@goodlord,
are you suggesting that sesel should be convicted based upon his words. his thinly veiled, and poor balkanic comedic words. convicting someone isn't the same as awarding them a peace prize, which can now be given simply based upon rhetoric and promises. to convict someone you need more than passing words, you need actions. otherwise, where would we leave ourselves? convictions based upon thoughts, and dreams? jailing someone for what they think and say, but don't do.
if there is a concrete trail connecting him to actions then he deserves the full might of the legal system, otherwise he's spent his time-out in the corner for speaking out of turn.

I disagree Ned.

Not recognizing the court is his right and perogative. It is also a legitimate legal defense.

A court of law has an obligation to deliver speedy verdict - evenn when the accused won't play ball.

In the USA (which sets the legal standard worldwide) the burden rests upon the prosecution.

Therefore this court = Bannana Court First Class

10 years?

What a joke.

It would appear that one tactic of this court is to prolong trials when there is not definitive evidence to convict (thereby achieving detention).

Bannana Court that would be laughed out of the USA and on the front page of most newspapers and nightly news.

PS: I am not defending Seselj. I am simply attacking a Bannana Court for its incompetence and manipulations of the rule of law which is of utmost importance in democratic civil society.

Bannana Court for weak minds not knowing better.

The Hague Tribunal has NO reason to ask for Vojislav Seselj! Full stop, tacka. Not now not ever!

What a sad world we live in when other nations collectively continue to try and destabilise a country that won't yield & bend over. Elections are near so let's destabilise so as to have our way. Stuff all the politicians as they aren't all that much impacted but rather it's the people/citizens you continue to affect. GROW UP i say! Imagine how wonderful the world would be if countries bothered to focus on themselves. If only a hope.

(ned taylor, 8 February 2016 16:32) Firstly, Seselj himself contributed greatly to the 'delay' of ten years through non-cooperation with and lack of recognition of the tribunal.
---
Some facts: He voluntarily flew to the Hague when the indictment was published. Why is this characterized as a "lack of cooperation"? From Feb 2003 through to Nov 2007 the prosecution and other arms of the ICTY implemented the greatest delay by persistently and erroneously denying the accused's right to self-representation. Following hunger strikes and years of avoidable delays, the ICTY circus finally recognized this basic right. So in fact, the greatest delay in the initiation of proceedings was the ICTY's fault. Why didn't they just allow him to defend himself and start the trial? Which brings us to the next fact: during the ICTY's great 2003-2007 delay, the prosecution modified the indictment multiple times (July 2005, June 2007 and Dec 2007). Heck, if the OTP had evidence to support the initial indictment, why were they stalling the start of the trial and repeatedly revising the indictment? Ned, these are not the actions of the accused, they are documented manipulations by the OTP and a blatant indication that prosecution was inadequately prepared to present evidence. Finally Ned, the last fact that you fail to mention is the amount of time the prosecution and accused used to present their respective cases: Prosecution 2008-2012 (ca 4.5 years) vs. Accused 0.00 seconds.

Two faced Serbs doing what they do best. They guaranteed his return, now are playing games. I think Kosovo government or people shouldn't cooperate when it comes to this so-called "special court". If Serbs can play games why can't we too?

The ICTY has no viable case against Dr. Seselj and never did. The only question left to decide is how many millions in compensation they will need to pay him.

First they cry because of a delay of 12 years. Next they ask for a delay of one more year. After that they will cry for a delay of 13 years.

First they don't cooperate with the Hague, they call it all sorts of names, don't recognize its legitimacy. Next, they beg the Hague to now care about elections in Serbia and about their as**s.

The court's judgement will be well considered, and if guilty he must take the consequences.

I don't think Serbia will want to obstruct the court.

A couple of points. Firstly, Seselj himself contributed greatly to the 'delay' of ten years through non-cooperation with and lack of recognition of the tribunal. He may have had his reasons but the idea that the court itself was solely responsible for this extended period is factually incorrect. Mladic and Karadzic have gone down the same road of obfuscation and delay. Secondly, when he was temporarily released, his colon cancer had apparently spread to his liver; very few people live very long when this occurs, my own father included. If he is strong enough to take part in elections one has to assume that his health has recovered enough for him to return to The Hague. Mr Vulin cannot seriously believe that things can carry on as if Seselj was never indicted. Serbia's political will is going to be tested to its full extent in this case. Refusal to return Seselj either for a verdict or to serve whatever proportion of his sentence he has not already served on remand will undoubtedly lead to delays in the EU accession process. Many in Serbia may rejoice at this but my understanding is that all leading political parties have pledged themselves to joining the EU as expeditiously as possible.

If you believe that paramilitaries were there to just protect serbian civilians, than you truly are a moron. I suppose serbs could claim that Gotovina didn't have to do time at the joint. It is correct to say that one side should not get all the blame. We can't assume that all civilians who were killed were even politically active. Serbs are anyway to blame why FOREIGNERS now have the powrr under pretex of 'Internstional community' to condem former yugo citizens. Seselj commited most of his crimes in Bosnia and Croatia hence he should be condemmed by a joint Croat-Bosniak court in Sarajevo.

Everything this phoney court does is motivated by politics; it has nothing to do with law. Dr Seselj has been charged with no violent acts or ordering violence against anyone. He has not physically hurt anyone although his words have clearly ruffled a few NATO feathers. The "verdict" of this phoney court and its phoney judges was decided years ago, Dr Seselj is guilty of being a Serb and that is enough to put him behind bars for the rest of his life. Why is a "verdict" due now? Could it have something to do with the upcoming Serbian elections? NATO clearly wants Dr Seselj out of the elections and have now added the ridiculous condition that he should return to The Hague to hear the "verdict." Once they get him again, they will never let him go. But I think this will backfire on NATO and their new poodle in Belgrade, Vucic. If Vucic arrests Dr Seselj and hands him to the NATO court, then support for the Radicals will probably rise, and perhaps significantly. If he doesn't arrest Dr Seselj, then Dr Seselj will be elected to the Serbian Parliament and the Hague Tribunal will be shown to be weak and ineffectual organ of NATO aggression and will finally be closed down. This is crunch time for the Tribunal and Vucic. Whatever happens, Dr Seselj will win.

Good luck trying to get Vucic to give up his former mrntor while world is 'shocked' about some ministers. Actual war criminals like this can stay free while Wiesenthal center is shocked about some minister.
