Nobody dared imagine that NATO would send in troops to occupy Serbia. Bondsteel was the best NATO could do and Bondsteel is nothing compared to what Russia has set up in Syria. Even so, it is not boots on the ground.

Paul,
You are misinformed, Milosevic caved in and sued for peace for the very reason NATO was planning a ground invasion of Serbia. Slobo knew if this happened he would be arrested by NATO troops just the way Saddam was when they found him hiding in a hole. Or, Milosevic would have ended up like bin Laden with a bullet in his head, executed by US Navy Seals. Furthermore, Russia has nothing set up in Syria with Russian troops on the ground and never will. Putin will need all the troops he can muster to defend Russia from ISIS. Thus far, Russia has killed mostly non ISIS opponents of Assad. In the end Vlad will be begging the U.S. for help. The only reason Putin has involved Russia by pretending to fight ISIS, is to ingratiate himself to the U.S. in hopes of having sanctions lifted, nothing more.

Joni, your skepticism is honest, but don't forget that for all the air strikes, none of these super military powers have any boots on the ground in ISIS territory.

ISIS is real and it is governing in the territories it controls, both socially and economically. And if it is not stopped, it will spread and that is what ISIS hopes and plans to do.

Is ISIS being bombed as completely as Serbia was during the breakup of the SFRY? Serbia is still there and still running things effectively towards their own interests, despite considerable resistance and subversion. Nobody dared imagine that NATO would send in troops to occupy Serbia. Bondsteel was the best NATO could do and Bondsteel is nothing compared to what Russia has set up in Syria. Even so, it is not boots on the ground.

I don't believe in Isis!
For me Isis is an ‘imaginary” creation for one purpose! Which is, i don't exactly know but i have my doubts.
Even Russia, if will be attacked and bombed from three super military powers in world – will capitulate in 1 -2 month. Isis - don't have a military base - don't have military planes - don't have sofisticate arms - don't have a army - is attacked from 3 military powers - and you believe fairy tales ?
Isis does not scare to me - what is behind this it's scary.

The report added that "a Pristina news website this week reported details of a letter addressed to then-prime minister Thaci in late 2014, allegedly signed by IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, calling on him to abandon Kosovo's alignment with the West or face 'great revenge'."

A threat taking place in 2014 is now published, in 2016? Just when this honorable gentleman Thaci wants to become president? A bit shady, don't you think? What kind of cheap points does he want to gain with putting himself as an opponent of IS terrorists?

Isis knows that America is illegally housed on Serbian soil and most Albanians support Americans. The few that have gone to fight in Syria were just the wayward ones. This doesn't mean that the other Albanians are not terrorizing other Kosovo people.

There must be more to this little communication than we see here. The real plum for ISIS in the Balkans is not Kosovo, it is a Greater Albania. If Kosovo were to align itself more openly with ISIS, then it would lose its already rocky grip on the West.

When the Albanians can openly unite Kosovo with Albania, then it can leverage an open presence for ISIS in the Balkans. And not just Greater Albania but Bosnia as well.

Why then are they applying pressure on Thaci? Maybe, despite his contributions, he is still unreliably Muslim with his clean shave and business suits. But so what? Erdogan gets away with it, why not Thaci?

All sources including western say that 500 albanian and bosnian mulims have gone to Syria for the caliphate. Many of these people are veterans like Thaci and have more combat exprience than Syrian army. One of the reasons why ISIS has advanced so well is due to Chechen, Bosnian and Albanian volunteers. I think number of volunteers from Albania and Bosnia is at least 3000.
