Targeted travel bans against corrupt Putin chronies are an effective way of creating pressure. While Putin remains in power these people are safe, but they know that when (not if) Putin's tenure comes to an end, the Russian people and the Russian system will most certainly turn against them. Travel bans ensure that corrupt people will be there for the Russian people to call to account. It also makes it harder for corruptly gained wealth to be asset-stripped frim the country.

Russia may one day ask why Serbia was prepared to support corruption in Russia.

Supporting Putin is not necessarily the same as supporting Russia - so be careful!
