A fabricated communist style grand opening, with "passengers" brought to the station from who knows where, just to make it look like the station is actively functioning for the cameras. Maybe the same crowd that was at a recent bridge opening ceremony? One question though, if access roads are yet to be built to this train station, how did these "passengers get there? Long live Serbian communist propoganda, tis present crop of politicians may even be better at selling "nothing", than their fathers.

Can someone knowledgeable in economics explain this to me? Thanks.
The money for the contract worth EUR 25.8 million was secured from a loan taken from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

Prokop was designed in the 1960s and eary 1970s when railways were considered 19th century technology with little scope for expansion. Things have now changed and railways are expanding across the world. Longer, faster trains going to many more destinations is the reality in the 21st century. Looking at photographs of Prokop shows that it is clearly too small. 8 platforms can't accomodate a significant increase in railway usage. The platforms also look quite narrow, which means that they can't accomodate many people without becoming dangerous. The old central railway station has a major advantage over Prokop - it can be expanded. The is room to add new tracks and platforms, least there was room until Belgrade on Water came along. In the years and decades to come Belgrade will find it difficult to find room for a major station for its growing needs.

Wow only 40 years Serbia is getting so much faster then a dead speeding snail. So many poor people waiting on the platform for that long. One of the first persons off the train looks so familiar. He must of waited that long on the other side of the line. He should become Serbia's prime minister just by his patient default. Those Arabs must of given him some change for a ticket because Serbs love Muslims yap. Congratulations Serbs for your unabashed amazing patients.
