Both Belgrade and Pristina will sign the deal the international community tells them to sign. For Belgrade, this is (finally) self-evident. For Pristina, this has been a choreographed production since 1999: stonewall, demand, and threaten to "go it alone" unless their claims are met. The international community met them on one claim: independence from Serbia. The rest has been almost entirely designed by the West and placed in front of whoever speaks on behalf of Kosovo's Albanians as a take-it-or-leave-it-without-our-support ultimatum.

The grandstanding from Kosovo's Albanian elite and the predictable "FU" attitude coming from the mob have been blunted repeatedly in the past; in the establishment of UNMIK, the the Ahtisaari Plan, the EULEX, then renewed talks with Belgrade, and finally the tribunal for KLA war criminals.

Kosovo's entire post-1999 development has been almost entirely orchestrated by the US, the EU, and Russia. Belgrade and Pristina are little more than backseat drivers without a license.

Which is only normal when you consider that the whole (more or less failed) 'democratic-multi-ethnic Kosovo' project is grown by the EU. Kosovo Albanians would have liked something else, i.e. an ethnic cleansing, similar to Milosevic, only with the ethnics changed.

It always intrigues me that ancient Albanians in Kosovo think they have a say in what’s going on as if 1.8 million can do something. They don’t have a say and they will do as they are told.
You can “we the people” all you like but the ancient Albanians in Kosova are going to eat what’s been put on the table and you’re going to grin and bear it or you can all starve while your Albanian brothers in Albania look on and do nothing.
Why do you think Thaci HAD to sign the Agreement? He was TOLD to do that by the EU.
There is NO revision to the Agreement. None at all.

including the parts we consider important, and that we will not accept any change in what the prime ministers agreed in Brussels on August 25,” Djuric told reporters in Brussels.
