Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has denied that he told the British daily Guardian Skopje was open to discussing changing the country's name.

No, nobody here is desperate for that but nobody here wants them to get away with a lie becaue they ARE Slavs. Frankly it's an insult to our intelligence to think that we will swallow this.
All we are doing is pointing this out to them.
I wish they weren't Slavs becaue the rest of us are a little embarrissed for them.
Why should Macedonia change its name? for whom exaclty?

Because the name belongs to someone else.
They have NOTHING in common with Macedonians. FYROM people are a mixture of predominantly Bulgarians and then others including Serbs.
They need Greeks to help them decipher ancient writings. What does that tell you?

I am not aware that ancient greeks had staked copyright claims on the word Macedonia. and yes you are right, modern Macedonians are not related to ancienet ones, they have built a myth around them, which is frnakly luaghable, but it does not bother me one iota. why are so many people here desperate for Macedonians to classify themselves as Slavs?

Where is the proof that Kosovo was inhabited by Albanians before Serbs settled there? What exactly Albanian there predates Serbian? Do go on and tell us.
Macedonians today are a mix of Serbs, Greeks, Bulgarians, and from those 3 whatever ancient tribes they had in them already. Balkan people should love each other. Maybe a change in name is a good thing. Macedonia quarter exists in already so it's not like the name will vanish into history.

I don't know if the current Macedonians are related with Alexander the great or they are descendants of Slavic hordes. Who cares? They live in an geographic area that is called Macedonia and they created a state named after the region. While Macedonia has no moral rights to demand expansion of their republic to include their neighbors provide named Macedonia, at the same time Greeks do not hold intellectual rights of name Macedonia. If they do, they can shows us why is okay for towns in US or elsewhere in the world are ok to be named Macedonia, but their neighbors in the north who live in Macedonia don't have that right.

There is a town in Greece named Servia (the Greek name for Serbia). Does that mean that they hold the exclusivity of name Serbia too?

The Macedonians created the mess they're in and as far as I'm concerned, they can fix it themselves without the help of Serbia. Good luck FYROM or whatever your name is.
