U may be right about southern Serbia, I'm not to familiar with that part of the country...or Albania. I have driven from Pancevo to Bucharest and then to Skopje however, and those roads to Macedonia are very nice.
Please keep in mind. Serbia with many years of crippling sactions had no funds to put into roads or infrastructure so are now playing catchup with the rest of the region.
I believe Roads & highways are a very important and neccessary way of bringing people and regions together and this is so vital to the Balkans.
With tinderbox situations ready to flare up at a moments notice, calm & logic need to prevail, otherwise the common people will suffer as they always do and the politicians end up laughing & prospering.
You & ME must be the change we want to see in our respective countries! Who, if not us & when, if not now!

More roads means more economic activity, less wasted time. tIme is money.

More roads means companies locate in Serbia and not other countries. More companies means more jobs and more taxes. And why shouldn't they? A very large market of people is less than a day's drive away.

Infrastructure begets infrastructure.

All roads flow through Serbia in the next step of the development and capitalization of the Balkans.

I wouldn't compare Serbia with Croatia - why should Serbia lower its sights?? Compare it with a proper country such as Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, etc.

Relax people -
I don't think he was trying to belittle Croatia, as a matter of fact, he mentioned they are a superpower when it comes to roads. He was just gaging the progress of Serbia when it comes to roads & highways, which has been absolutley impressive. Croatia has beautiful roads. I've been on them and I've also traveled roads in Serbia, which are definantly looking better & better. No disrespect to Croatia!
