How the Serb army escaped Nato

General Nebojsa Pavkovic, commander of the Yugoslav army in Kosovo, tells the BBC's Moral Combat programme this Sunday: "We used other measures, too: camouflage, decoys, and it was mainly these that Nato aircraft destroyed."

Nato pilots found small mobile targets so hard to find that on some days they dropped half their bombs on so-called "dump sites" known to be empty.
General Mike Short, commander of the allied air forces, said: "The Serbs dictated the pace of events, they dictated the battle rhythm. They came out to burn villages when they wanted to, they hid when the weather was good."[link]

So since NATO was totally unable to do anything to force Serbia to withdraw from Kosovo, you are saying that Serbs were cowards for accepting the unacceptable (in Serbia's words) UNCR 1244 and NATO's occupation of Kosovo, the cradle of Serbdom lol

Do you have anymore traitorous and unpatriotic arguments to make today, mate?

sasa,
I left Kosovo and yes, if I was younger I would leave Serbia in a bit.
Let me tell you that we (our army and police) did some very very nasty things to Albanians there. We used to live peacefully together during Tito times and had a lot of fun. Slobo lost Kosovo for good, and it is going to take some time before things cool down between remaining Serbs and Albanians there. I cant blame the Albanians, forgiveness does not come easy, especially when we dont ask for it and behave as we were victims not perpetrators of that evil that was the war. I am sure once our government stops meddling in Kosovo, Serbs living there will find a modus vivendi with albanias and live togetehr as they have done for centuries. For this to happens, our current Slobo off-shoot government has to stop using Kosovo Serbs for scoring political points at home, we know Belgrade does not care about Kosovo serbs, it never has, expect when it can use to score political points.

I didn't say I didn't know him. I said I couldn't care less about him. If he's that much of a household name in Albanian families then guess what: Serbs use names like Haradinaj, Limaj, and, well, the entire KLA as equal epithets.

Besides, don't question my alleged ignorance on Lazarevic when you claim you don't know Gotovina.

As far as the reception he got, I don't recall ordinary Serbs rushing to the airport to receive him. This may shock you, but 99% of Serbs couldn't care less. If anything, the man did the time for the crime. End of story. Seriously, no one cares about this guy. Whatever ceremony he received is, as I said, similar to the patriotic sh!t show seen in Zagreb, Pristina, and Sarajevo whenever one of their own returns from the Hague. And please don't give me this story about officials staying away. Before Gotovina was found guilty they first time, every Croatian politician to the right of the HDZ was planning a huge gala event to welcome him home on acquittal. His original conviction hit the Croatian nationalists like a blow to the gut. As far as Kosovo is concerned, even LDK officials need to beat the drum of nationalism and historical revisionism whenever a narrative of the KLA other than pure national defenders.

Are you kidding me? You didnt knew who Lazarevic is? Every Kosovar knows Lazarevic! I have a dozen reasons (I see their gravestones everytime I visit home) to remember Lazarevic and his lowlifes. Most of them are still well and free. Look up current Interpole Red Notice for Crimes against Humanity.

You call him a relict of the 90s while he gets a state reception?? This is not so much 90s but like more today, if you ask me. So please dont try to downplay it.

Sure, warcriminals have been received by nationolists in every country but usually at least officials stay away from them. This is the first case that I know of that high rank state officials have escorted a warcriminal.

Honestly, giving this animal a state reception does more harm than any of your enemies could ever do.
(Amanaparts, 4 December 2015 10:16)

Here's the problem: welcoming state receptions are the vocation of four groups in the region: Serbs, Croats, Bosnian, and Kosovo Albanians whenever one of their own returns from the Hague, guilty or not. Does it help build reconciliation between neighbors? Of course it doesn't but it's what happens. Two days ago, no one knew who Lazarevic was. The only way we know about him is because the news reported his release and after this, he'll return to being a relic of the 1990s in Serbia. He won't be given any honors, streets won't be named after him, and he won't be given honorary residences in towns.

This type of thing happens in Croatia, Kosovo, and Bosnia regardless of whether the man is guilty or not and even in the case where Gotovina, Haradinaj, and Oric were found guilty - and there's enough evidence to convict all three of them for the crimes they committed - they'd still be given a hero's welcome back as soon as their sentence was up.

For me, I couldn't care less about Lazarevic, but for anyone to look at Serbia and get all offended and disgusted about the reception he received, knowing their own opinions about their own national heroes others regard as war criminals, is the height of hypocrisy, so do not suggest no fanfare wouldn't be issued. We're all guilty of exonerating our own side and condemning the other.

No? Gotovina in Croatia, Plavsic in Bosnia, not to mention the KLA criminals who were celebrated in Pristina and, even worse, who still are party leaders in the political life nowadays, after they couldn't be convinced because their clans killed all witnesses (I don't have to mention their names, do, I)?

But still disgusting that even army officials welcomed this criminal now in Serbia.
(Comm. Parrisson, 4 December 2015 09:50)
If memory serves me the people who you mention were exonerated by the ICTY, there is a difference in who you FEEL or BELEIVE are guilty and those who have been convicted.
You and others feel that many should be considered the same as guilty based on news reports and gossip and political rhetoric, but do you personally know of crimes these people are guilty of. I would not want you on any jury of people if you do not have to have evidence, to convict.
Serbs do not like the ICTY, do you have a better system. The ICTY is a mixture of judges from countries around the world, even Russian and Chinese, about 1/2 come from NATO countries and 1/2 come from non NATO countries. Serbs have been wanting an international court set up for Kosovo Albanians, but denounce this court. But I have never seen on here someone who can present a better system.
Also bear in mind it is universal that every criminal says the system that convicted him is corrupt.
There is no such thing as the death penalty or "gallows" at the Hague.

Now, why would you do such a thing if you dont recognise its jurisdiction. I dont know the croat you named but I know Haradinaj and let me tell you one thing. If hes guilty of what hes been accused of, he deserves to be imprisoned and if he then returns home, I guarantee you, that no one is going to receive him with fanfare.

I wouldnt be online, trying to defend a convicted warcriminal and denounce ICTY. I would distance my self as far as possible and not wait for him at the airport and prais him as shining example.

But still disgusting that even army officials welcomed this criminal now in Serbia.

sasa,
I left Kosovo and yes, if I was younger I would leave Serbia in a bit.

@Amanaparts

(Jugoslavija, 3 December 2015 20:57)

So since NATO was totally unable to do anything to force Serbia to withdraw from Kosovo, you are saying that Serbs were cowards for accepting the unacceptable (in Serbia's words) UNCR 1244 and NATO's occupation of Kosovo, the cradle of Serbdom lol

Do you have anymore traitorous and unpatriotic arguments to make today, mate?
