"Belgrade-Budapest train trips to take 2.5 hours in future"

Must be good times for scale-model builders in Belgrade these days

The model shown is of a Stadler EMU in ZS pain scheme. Good and popular - but it's not the high-speed train they were talking about. My guess is, they will just prolong the Austrian Railjet route from Budapest. The Raijets are capable to travel Budapest-Belgrade in well under 3 hours if the track is good.

The question people asking is where the route will be?

The current route via Kiskunhalas - Kelebia - Subotica - NS does require Railjets to be turned in Budapest Keleti and does mean at least 20 minutes or more delay.
Besides, it does by-pass Szeged which is no good.

If the future rail is via Kelenföld - Köbánya-Kispest - Cegléd - Szeged - Horgos - Subotica than the trains from Vienna do not need to be turned and borh Szeged and Subotica will be connected. Besides, the track from BP to Szeged is in better shape than from BP to Kelebia, till Cegléd it's a double-track and it passes near the BP airport. I really hope that will be the route.

There is still Orbángutáng, the monkey-king of the Kingdom of Felcsút.
Everything he touches turns to be sh*t, so we have to wait... and see... and hope, one day that monkey will leave the politics and become a successful manager of Felcsút footy club... or maybe the Felcsút tourist train.
