Both recommended further investigation but both stopped short of saying it actually happened. Marty did go further in saying that IF it did happen it was no where on the scale that Serbia alleged.
Williamson conducted the actual investigation and while he came back and said that he had uncovered enough evidence of war crimes to produce indictments that he had not been able to uncover enough evidence of the organ harvesting to say it actually happened or who was responsible. But he did go further to say that IF it did occur the numbers would be less than 10 at most.
Which is believable that someone had thought of the idea, but found out it was not feasible. And further shows there was not an organized effort on the KLA.

Serbia did not put together a coalition to ban the US, the rules simply state that in order to vote a country must be up to date on its dues, they might miss a country like Serbia which contributes less that 0.5%of the budget but the US contributes 25% of the budget and that is not likely to be missed. Due to laws in the US they are forbidden to supply money to organizations that allow Palestine to join. Whether I agree with that or not does not matter, it had nothing to do with anything Serbia did or did not do.

You should have stopped with the first comment, because you just proved you do not know what abstain actually means. I will explain using simple numbers and if you read real slow maybe you can get it.
Say there are 99 countries in UNESCO, in a vote Kosovo would need 66 votes IF everyone voted. If 33 countries abtain then there would be 66 countries voting and Kosovo would need 44 votes to get in.
If 96 countries abstain then 3 voted and Kosovo would only need 2 votes to get in.
In reality 142 countries voted and 29 abstained so apparently there were only 171 present. 92 yes, 50 no(92+50 =142) 2/3 of 142 =95 and Kosovo missed by 3 votes. If the 29 abstains counted as no then Kosovo would have needed 115 and would have been 23 votes short.
Read the article and apply simple math and you can get it. Abstain is the same as the countries that did not show up, their votes were not given to the yes or the no side.

Sand castles get washed away pretty easily. Serbia's religious treasures on Kosovo-Metohija are the oldest institutions in existence there. Tell me an older one if you can. The "sandcastles" survived the Ottomans (when you arrived), Nazi Germany and the communists.
But the KLA has shown their desire to remove every last one of them for good. That is exactly why you weren't let in UNESCO.

1. the Schism happened in 1054. Byzantium fell in 1459 or so? Are we to believe there was chaos for 400 years? And so what? What does this prove?

I have a house that I bought from the prior owner and took it to the ground to make a new house while retaining the foundation. 3 owners before me built that house after they demolished an old farmhouse. The farmhouse was probably built on the ruins of a prior farmhouse by another owner. And what? i don't own my house? My house is somehow the house of Mr. Johnson who lived there in 1679 after he emiigrated from London.

Serbs cried to UNESCO not to protect the sand castles of Kosovo. UNESCO hesitantly agreed. Kosovo now has the approval of UNESCO that the sand castles can be washed away. These sand castles are not important anymore. The sand from them can be put to better use, for example build public toilets.

Actually, they're doing quite well, all things considered. Tourism is up, international trade is up, and Serbia has a new image of itself to show the world. As for Albanians being the last to arrive in Kosovo, all you have to do is check Ottoman documents around 1690 when the sultan ordered the transfer of two large tribes from Albania to replace the loss of Serb taxpayers after they fled with the Austrian army. If Albanians existed in what would be Kosovo prior, they were small and largely insignificant to history and to any empire that controlled the region prior. This isn't rocket science. This is easily researched history. History that isn't rewritten by Albanian hacks who think all these churches are Albanian Catholic churches that you seemed gullible enough to believe because you'll believe anything told to you.

During the srbian spread of territory on Byzantium cost, a lot of monasteries were damaged and were abandoned due to conflicts but were rebuild by the local people Srb and Albanian local Lords which were the strongest ethnicities/rulers of the western Balkan/Illyrian Peninsula - Byzantium

Not at all what it means Peggy, Abstaining means that for some reason they do not want to make a decision. It could be because they are in fear of offending another country, or that they simply do not care yes or no.
But that they will accept the outcome no matter which way.
Like when China abstained from voting on 1244, they were upset with NATO and NATO was going to be in charge of security for Kosovo against Serbia, so they did not want to say yes but they did not want to block it either, so they let everyone else decide.
I regret that Kosovo was unable to win today, but I see it as a victory still. They were only 3 votes shy of two thirds of the voting countries. That is great progress.
I have issues with the US allowing themselves to be put in a situation of not being able to cast a vote. But I guess this gives them reason to continue to withhold 25% of the UNESCO budget. Will Serbia's friends kick in the difference so the organization can operate at full capacity or allow it to continue to limp along?
But better luck in 2 years when Serbia is still trying to close chapter 35 so they may progress a little further toward joining the EU.
I have a strong feeling this is not the end of it and things are going to end very badly for Serbia. Deep in their hearts the Serbs know this very well.

UNESCO is not a political organisation. It is a cultural one. Palestine is a member of UNESCO even if it`s not "a real state".

If he had such a hard time voting "For" regarding UNESCO (which is what the US asked him to do), then he definitely has a very hard time recognizing a pseudo-State as independent. Kosovo can pretend, wish, believe and hope, but that will not make them a country. Kosovo is and will for most people around the globe be a province of Serbia, that said temporarily run by unsc res 1244. Its as clear as water.
Kosovo , a self- proclaimed state, supported by US-led western countries is a never-never-land with breakdown of law and order, run by criminals and mafia. Though lots of money has been pumped into Kosovo’s economy, it appears that its flow terminated into Thaci and his cronies’ pockets . It is generally known that Al Qaeda and wahhabism have their affiliates in Kosovo. Even slogans as ‘’this is Kosovo Caliphate’’ can be seen on Serbian churches and monasteries’ walls. What would they protect if they were members of UNESCO ?! A lot of Serb Orthodox cemeteries have been desecrated, where a lot of tombs were destroyed by using explosive. A video has surfaced on YouTube showing a crowd destroying the WWII memorial, with several members of the KPS standing by without attempting to prevent them. Attacks and destruction on Serb Orthodox monasteries were staged by ethnic Albanians in Kosovo The monasteries had been targeted by Albanians before, but they were burned down in March 2004 .
Maybe the Kosovo Albanians should refrain from desecrating Serb monasteries, churches and cemeteries if they want to join a world heritage organization like UNESCO.
Had this been voted on in 2008, Kosovo would have been voted into UNESCO without question. However, since then the world has seen the savage behavior of the Kosovo Albanians and sent a clear message: start acting in a civilized manner or you will lose the support you once had.
I predict now instead of getting their act together , Kosovo Albanians will go on to destroy more Serb cultural landmarks. Go for it Kosovo Albos, the eyes of the world are on you now. How will you react?

Nonsense. This is a speculation at its worst and most deceptive, and - at best - a silly case of wishful thinking.
First of all, BOTH Ukraine AND Azarbeijan are on record as strongly supporting Serbian sovereignty and territorial integrity over Kosovo. NEITHER country recognized "independent" Kosovo, and it would be entirely inconceivable for either country to vote for the secessionist movement to be admitted to a major international organization. Both countries have problems with domestic secessionists and do not wish to be seen as practicing double standards.
Neither Mongolia, nor Tajkistan nor Iran nor Iraq currently recognize "independent" Kosovo. Why would they vote for its membership in UNESCO? To contradict their own official policy?
Iran and Iraq, in view of their own problems they have had with the West, would be the last to support the western agenda. And Mongolia - landlocked by Russia and China - would essentially shoot itself in the foot by voting against its two huge neighbors.

Also let's remember that my home country Montenegro voted in favor like the traitor communist scum Milo Djukanovic is. Bulgaria is no different than Romania or Hungary, and Albania as far as Foreign policy, all four declared war on the US in unison with Nazi Germany and invaded parts of Yugoslavia during WWII. Yes Greece abstained but due to political pressure and the current leadership of Tsipras who has betrayed the Greek electorate to the bankers of Europe.
Serbia will never forget the Greeks for the only country that stood up to NATO and its barbarity. I always love to quote Mikis Theodorakis from the Belgrade concert for peace in 1999 where the Serbian people stood together with the Greeks on the bridges of Belgrade.

Emotional and nationalistic feelings aside, what this really means is that there will be less money and funds for our monasteries in Kosovo. Serbia has to spend money in order to maintain them which wont be easy given that Balkans are all being subsidized by the EU now. Eventually they will be forgotten by our politicians and the people as usual.
This is a loss for the Serbs that live around those places while our nationalist leaders can enjoy some popularity among the uninformed masses.
Historically Albanians took more care of those monasteries than serbs, they were the guardians during the ottoman times and did not destroy them.
A chance to make peace and move forward was lost for now, nationalist warmongers are on a roll.

Not surprising that the gut reaction from some of the more patriotic Albanians of the diaspora are now calling for immediate suspension of all agreements with Serbia, essentially verifying the reasons why Kosovo isn't ready for just UNESCO but membership in the community of mature and rational states. If anything, Kosovo needs to redouble its efforts in recognizing the agreements its international supporters are pressuring them to accept and show the world they actually are what the US, Great Britain, and Germany say they are, rather than the stereotypes they always affirm when they don't get their way.

Funny how you couldn't identify what Albanians have in Kosovo. Romans, Serbs, Turks, all have cultural monuments and historical evidence in Kosovo. Albanians, the last people to arrive in the region, have nothing of any importance beyond a few huts and night clubs. Maybe that's why UNESCO denied you membership.

Add in the Moslem states and there you have it, a losing minority. Things are not looking good for the Yanks if they can’t win this sort of vote. Funny how you couldn't identify what Albanians have in Kosovo. Romans, Serbs, Turks, all have cultural monuments and historical evidence in Kosovo. Albanians, the last people to arrive in the region, have nothing of any importance beyond a few huts and night clubs. Maybe that's why UNESCO denied you membership.

Lets be realistic here, NATO only interest was to destroy Serbian state run industry which was one of the biggest exporting nations in the world, so they could fund everything to fix it, force privatization through world bank and IMF policies towards Serbia, then big American and German corporations would come in and swoop everything for rock bottom prices at the expense of our fatherland, and people. People say that Kosovo only needed 3 votes for membership, but fail to recognize that countries like Iraq, Iran and more were not allowed to vote, most likely ending up in Serbia's favour. I mean even Palestine voted against it!! Yes Greece abstained but due to political pressure and the current leadership of Tsipras who has betrayed the Greek electorate to the bankers of Europe.

What a shame there wasn't a one vote difference with Palestine being the decisive vote. Would be a nice way to rub it in Washington's nose. Not complaining about the extra votes though.

I am aware of the reasons why Greece sucked American c*ck today. The good news is that the Greek PM has obviously no intention to recognize Kosovo-Metohija as an independent State. If he had such a hard time voting "For" regarding UNESCO (which is what the US asked him to do), then he definitely has a very hard time recognizing a pseudo-State as independent. Next time we will have more like 15 votes in our favour. Taking on Washington ten years ago would be unthinkable without being humiliated. Now, small Serbia can humiliate the whole West and their backing for terrorist entities.

Had these countries voted, they would have most certainly voted in Serbia's favor.
Also let's remember that my home country Montenegro voted in favor like the traitor communist scum Milo Djukanovic is. But no worries about that, Milo is on his last legs and by the next time comes around for Albanians to submit another application, he may very well be rotting in a prison cell and wont be able to secure you that vote.
So the grass isn't always greener. Maybe it's time to take this loss humbly, continue on dialogue with Serbia and stop trying to steal more of what isn't yours!

Bulgaria is no different than Romania or Hungary, and Albania as far as Foreign policy, all four declared war on the US in unison with Nazi Germany and invaded parts of Yugoslavia during WWII. Not surprising that the gut reaction from some of the more patriotic Albanians of the diaspora are now calling for immediate suspension of all agreements with Serbia, essentially verifying the reasons why Kosovo isn't ready for just UNESCO but membership in the community of mature and rational states. Serbia took it too far this time I guess. If Serbia is so attached to the Serbian heritage in Kosovo it should have helped Kosovo join the Unesco, not block it. With this act Serbia told the whole world that it doesn’t really care for its culture and its past in Kosovo, all it cares is to get rid of the Albanian presence in there. I am sure that Kosovars will protect the historical values of their country, even without being a member of UNESCO

By recognizing Kosovo, EU and USA have downgraded Serbian ‘’minority’’ in UN- recognized state Serbia. Serbia has its arm twisted to renounce Serbs in Kosovo, even to deprive them of their ethnicity, to have them assimilated by Albanians, eventually to have the bonds cut between people of the same ethnicity. No ethnic rights shall be granted to Serbs by the majority Albanians. AND NOW how would they protect Serbian Cultural legacy . Gracanica was build on 6 century and was a catholic church but srbs destroyed and build a orthodox church on the existing ruins, Hilandar was also built on exiting ruins and was given as a gift to srbs.

UNESCO is not a political organisation. It is a cultural one. Palestine is a member of UNESCO even if it`s not "a real state".
Of course, Kosovo wanted UNESCO membership to be seen as a "political victory", that`s normal. And it failed.
But why is this a "Serbian Victory"?
I mean, Kosovo membership in UNESCO wouldn`t change nothing to Orthodox Monasteries Status. There are no Orthodox Albanians in Kosovo. There is no such thing as Kosovo Orthodox Church.
So, what is this "we stopped the K-A to steal Serbian culture heritage"? I mean, i thought they "stole" it once for all on Feb 17th 2008.

Actually, they're doing quite well, all things considered. Tourism is up, international trade is up, and Serbia has a new image of itself to show the world. First of all, BOTH Ukraine AND Azarbeijan are on record as strongly supporting Serbian sovereignty and territorial integrity over Kosovo. NEITHER country recognized "independent" Kosovo, and it would be entirely inconceivable for either country to vote for the secessionist movement to be admitted to a major international organization. Both countries have problems with domestic secessionists and do not wish to be seen as practicing double standards.
Neither Mongolia, nor Tajkistan nor Iran nor Iraq currently recognize "independent" Kosovo. Why would they vote for its membership in UNESCO? To contradict their own official policy?
Iran and Iraq, in view of their own problems they have had with the West, would be the last to support the western agenda. And Mongolia - landlocked by Russia and China - would essentially shoot itself in the foot by voting against its two huge neighbors.

As for Albanians being the last to arrive in Kosovo, all you have to do is check Ottoman documents around 1690 when the sultan ordered the transfer of two large tribes from Albania to replace the loss of Serb taxpayers after they fled with the Austrian army. If Albanians existed in what would be Kosovo prior, they were small and largely insignificant to history and to any empire that controlled the region prior. This isn't rocket science. This is easily researched history. History that isn't rewritten by Albanian hacks who think all these churches are Albanian Catholic churches that you seemed gullible enough to believe because you'll believe anything told to you.

Sand castles get washed away pretty easily. Serbia's religious treasures on Kosovo-Metohija are the oldest institutions in existence there. Tell me an older one if you can. The "sandcastles" survived the Ottomans (when you arrived), Nazi Germany and the communists.
But the KLA has shown their desire to remove every last one of them for good. That is exactly why you weren't let in UNESCO.
Emotional and nationalistic feelings aside, what this really means is that there will be less money and funds for our monasteries in Kosovo. Serbia has to spend money in order to maintain them which wont be easy given that Balkans are all being subsidized by the EU now. Eventually they will be forgotten by our politicians and the people as usual.
This is a loss for the Serbs that live around those places while our nationalist leaders can enjoy some popularity among the uninformed masses.
Historically Albanians took more care of those monasteries than serbs, they were the guardians during the ottoman times and did not destroy them.
A chance to make peace and move forward was lost for now, nationalist warmongers are on a roll.

As far as organ harvesting goes, so far that has played out to be nothing more than a Serbian myth, there has been no credible evidence uncovered that the acts actually took place (unlike the many many mass graves created by Serbs) much less anything that would indicate who was involved inorder for their to be any convictions. So you need to save that for bedtime stories for your children along with how the Serbs tortured and raped and if they were Albanian there was a good chance they would have been murdered.

Serbs love to lie them self, if only one srb prayed in the church they will claim it, of course they did ONLY rebuild (14 VEK) some Kosova churches on top of the ruins that were already there but they did not BUILD from scratch, an issue arises with srbs not understanding the whole picture comes from that srbs never do take into consideration the other earlier history events, they only quote their first serbian sources which are developed much latter after the arrival in balkans through famous Slavic migrations from ‘Russian’ carpate mountains to Balkans/Illyria in 7/8 century AC.
Gracanica was build on 6 century and was a catholic church but srbs destroyed and build a orthodox church on the existing ruins, Hilandar was also built on exiting ruins and was given as a gift to srbs.

Serbia did not put together a coalition to ban the US, the rules simply state that in order to vote a country must be up to date on its dues, they might miss a country like Serbia which contributes less that 0.5%of the budget but the US contributes 25% of the budget and that is not likely to be missed. Due to laws in the US they are forbidden to supply money to organizations that allow Palestine to join. Whether I agree with that or not does not matter, it had nothing to do with anything Serbia did or did not do.

Not at all what it means Peggy, Abstaining means that for some reason they do not want to make a decision. It could be because they are in fear of offending another country, or that they simply do not care yes or no.
But that they will accept the outcome no matter which way.
Like when China abstained from voting on 1244, they were upset with NATO and NATO was going to be in charge of security for Kosovo against Serbia, so they did not want to say yes but they did not want to block it either, so they let everyone else decide.

This whole effort is an attempt to recognize kosovo as an independent entity. Its nothing but political in nature and does not respect international law. In regards to palastine, palastine does not have a UN resolution in regard to its sovereignty. So one cannot compare the two situations.

Are Serb leaders aware that by waging such a diplomatic negative campaign against Kosovo they are setting up themselves for a direct conflict with its neighbors, EU partners and EU itself. While nationalists in Serbia may celebrate this day as brief win; rest assured that history will judge this day differently. A day which set Serbia in direct conflict with its EU and US partners. Waging a diplomatic battle against UK, Germany, France, Italy, and United States is a political suicide especially at time when Serbia is incapable of providing any security to its churches and monasteries. Remember gents you live in Europe not next to Brazil, Argentina and your beloved Russia and Venezuela. Most countries which voted pro Serbia are left wing governments with huge social and economic problems of their own. Having their pro votes is not something Serbia should pride itself. They most likely noted "NO" in defiance of the US.
Be smart, be brave, be realistic, be rationale and accept things which you cannot change. Kosovo is independent with or without Serbia's blessing even more NOW than ever before.
I have a strong feeling this is not the end of it and things are going to end very badly for Serbia. Deep in their hearts the Serbs know this very well.
I regret that Kosovo was unable to win today, but I see it as a victory still. They were only 3 votes shy of two thirds of the voting countries. That is great progress.
I have issues with the US allowing themselves to be put in a situation of not being able to cast a vote. But I guess this gives them reason to continue to withhold 25% of the UNESCO budget. Will Serbia's friends kick in the difference so the organization can operate at full capacity or allow it to continue to limp along?

You should have stopped with the first comment, because you just proved you do not know what abstain actually means. I will explain using simple numbers and if you read real slow maybe you can get it.
Say there are 99 countries in UNESCO, in a vote Kosovo would need 66 votes IF everyone voted. If 33 countries abtain then there would be 66 countries voting and Kosovo would need 44 votes to get in.
If 96 countries abstain then 3 voted and Kosovo would only need 2 votes to get in.
In reality 142 countries voted and 29 abstained so apparently there were only 171 present. 92 yes, 50 no(92+50 =142) 2/3 of 142 =95 and Kosovo missed by 3 votes. If the 29 abstains counted as no then Kosovo would have needed 115 and would have been 23 votes short.
Read the article and apply simple math and you can get it. Abstain is the same as the countries that did not show up, their votes were not given to the yes or the no side.

Both recommended further investigation but both stopped short of saying it actually happened. Marty did go further in saying that IF it did happen it was no where on the scale that Serbia alleged.
Williamson conducted the actual investigation and while he came back and said that he had uncovered enough evidence of war crimes to produce indictments that he had not been able to uncover enough evidence of the organ harvesting to say it actually happened or who was responsible. But he did go further to say that IF it did occur the numbers would be less than 10 at most.
Which is believable that someone had thought of the idea, but found out it was not feasible. And further shows there was not an organized effort on the KLA.

Serbia has evidence--joke of the century, every few months your war crimes investigator gets up with an empty folder to say we have uncovered evidence but it never makes it to the light of day does it?
As far as Carla's book that was suppose to make her rich before it was pretty much shut down. She claims she had witness statements that she was unable to further investigate. Dick Marty said that he had witness statements that had not been verified nor tested for validity.
Both recommended further investigation but both stopped short of saying it actually happened. Marty did go further in saying that IF it did happen it was no where on the scale that Serbia alleged.
Williamson conducted the actual investigation and while he came back and said that he had uncovered enough evidence of war crimes to produce indictments that he had not been able to uncover enough evidence of the organ harvesting to say it actually happened or who was responsible. But he did go further to say that IF it did occur the numbers would be less than 10 at most.
Which is believable that someone had thought of the idea, but found out it was not feasible. And further shows there was not an organized effort on the KLA.
Do you really think this compares to the 1000's of documented murder of men, women, and children by Serb military and police??

After Serbia's behavior at the UNESCO vote all Brussels agreements should be abolished. Kosova should do everything possible to block Serbia's EU path. The Kosovar government should implement a propaganda website #NoSerbiaInTheEU that shows all the crimes that Serbia perpetrated in Kosova. The criminal Serbia does not belong in the EU until it apologizes for all the crimes and genocide it has caused and until it pays war reparations to Kosovo. This is not about ZSO, this is about not allowing EU membership for this genocidal country! It is immoral and wrong for Europe to accept such a country in its midst.

Serbia took it too far this time I guess. If Serbia is so attached to the Serbian heritage in Kosovo it should have helped Kosovo join the Unesco, not block it. With this act Serbia told the whole world that it doesn’t really care for its culture and its past in Kosovo, all it cares is to get rid of the Albanian presence in there. I am sure that Kosovars will protect the historical values of their country, even without being a member of UNESCO

Funny how you couldn't identify what Albanians have in Kosovo. Romans, Serbs, Turks, all have cultural monuments and historical evidence in Kosovo. Albanians, the last people to arrive in the region, have nothing of any importance beyond a few huts and night clubs. Maybe that's why UNESCO denied you membership.
I could gloat, like Albanians on here have been doing all month after they were led to believe that it was in the bag. I said a week ago that anything could happen and it would be useless for anyone here to thump their chests as if they have any say in all of this.
In the end, justice and humanity prevailed. The KLA wanted to steal the same churches they tried to burn to the ground 10 years ago (after the war). Just like they want to steal Trepca, Gazivoda and Brezovica. It is up to moderate Albanians to find representatives who have more creative ideas than stealing from Serbia. This isn't a defeat for normal, moderate Albanians. But it sure as hell is for the KLA savages.

Kosovo and Metohija is the true heart of Serbian cultural and national identity, there's no Kosovo nation or identity or will ever be and this is the right decision by world powers. The UNESCO website says it has 195 members, so the Albanian Quislings in NATO-occupied Kosovo managed to get only 47% of the vote. Sounds impressive until one realises that the EU/NATO states are forced to vote as their American masters direct, as are the tiny Pacific Islands that depend on hand-outs from Uncle Sam. Add in the Moslem states and there you have it, a losing minority. Things are not looking good for the Yanks if they can’t win this sort of vote. American power and influence in the world is declining at an impressive rate.
Emotional and nationalistic feelings aside, what this really means is that there will be less money and funds for our monasteries in Kosovo. Serbia has to spend money in order to maintain them which wont be easy given that Balkans are all being subsidized by the EU now. Eventually they will be forgotten by our politicians and the people as usual.
This is a loss for the Serbs that live around those places while our nationalist leaders can enjoy some popularity among the uninformed masses.
Historically Albanians took more care of those monasteries than serbs, they were the guardians during the ottoman times and did not destroy them.
A chance to make peace and move forward was lost for now, nationalist warmongers are on a roll.

Most of them require a simple majority so it is not difficult to reach.
By 2017 Kosovo will be in many international organizations so the next attempt in UNESCO will be easier.
Also, now that Serbia pissed EU, they will "take care" you very well. Chapter 35 will open soon and you will have no choice but either not to oppose Kosovo or leave EU and join Russia.
Maybe the Kosovo Albanians should refrain from desecrating Serb monasteries, churches and cemeteries if they want to join a world heritage organization like UNESCO.

UNESCO is not a political organisation. It is a cultural one. Palestine is a member of UNESCO even if it`s not "a real state".
Of course, Kosovo wanted UNESCO membership to be seen as a "political victory", that`s normal. And it failed.
But why is this a "Serbian Victory"?
I mean, Kosovo membership in UNESCO wouldn`t change nothing to Orthodox Monasteries Status. There are no Orthodox Albanians in Kosovo. There is no such thing as Kosovo Orthodox Church.
So, what is this "we stopped the K-A to steal Serbian culture heritage"? I mean, i thought they "stole" it once for all on Feb 17th 2008.
p.s. Those "islamo-fascists" of Kosovo seems to be not so popular among the islamic countries like Iran and "stan" countries, and not so popular among those Ukrainian "fascists" too. I guess why? Maybe because K-A are not so "islamic" as some guys want to depict them.

Next time we will have more like 15 votes in our favour. Taking on Washington ten years ago would be unthinkable without being humiliated. Now, small Serbia can humiliate the whole West and their backing for terrorist entities.
That is the second anti-Serb failure we have seen in the UN recently. They have tried to humiliate Serbia but get humiliated themselves while Russia and China have huge smiles on their faces.

For those commenting that the Albanians only needed 3 votes and that next time will be more fruitful, I remind you that Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan & Mongolia were not allowed to vote due to technical reasons concerning their membership fees with UNESCO. Had these countries voted, they would have most certainly voted in Serbia's favor.
Also let's remember that my home country Montenegro voted in favor like the traitor communist scum Milo Djukanovic is. But no worries about that, Milo is on his last legs and by the next time comes around for Albanians to submit another application, he may very well be rotting in a prison cell and wont be able to secure you that vote.
So the grass isn't always greener. Maybe it's time to take this loss humbly, continue on dialogue with Serbia and stop trying to steal more of what isn't yours!
Serbs love to lie them self, if only one srb prayed in the church they will claim it, of course they did ONLY rebuild (14 VEK) some Kosova churches on top of the ruins that were already there but they did not BUILD from scratch, an issue arises with srbs not understanding the whole picture comes from that srbs never do take into consideration the other earlier history events, they only quote their first serbian sources which are developed much latter after the arrival in balkans through famous Slavic migrations from ‘Russian’ carpate mountains to Balkans/Illyria in 7/8 century AC.
Gracanica was build on 6 century and was a catholic church but srbs destroyed and build a orthodox church on the existing ruins, Hilandar was also built on exiting ruins and was given as a gift to srbs.

Nothing changed. Kosovo is still independant. Serbs still have to show their passport to enter Kosovo and they get still welcomed with stones everytime they try visit their sites. You serbs have a twisted understanding of wins and losses. Kosovo is recognized but 111 countries, Serbia has no army no police and no power in Kosovo but Serbs still think Kosovo is not a loss. Serbs lost the 1389 battle but consider it a victory and still celebrate it today. Kosovo does not become a member of UNESCO and is a loss for Kosovo. Kosovo did not loose something that did not have to begin with.
Not surprising that the gut reaction from some of the more patriotic Albanians of the diaspora are now calling for immediate suspension of all agreements with Serbia, essentially verifying the reasons why Kosovo isn't ready for just UNESCO but membership in the community of mature and rational states. If anything, Kosovo needs to redouble its efforts in recognizing the agreements its international supporters are pressuring them to accept and show the world they actually are what the US, Great Britain, and Germany say they are, rather than the stereotypes they always affirm when they don't get their way.

Maybe the Kosovo Albanians should refrain from desecrating Serb monasteries, churches and cemeteries if they want to join a world heritage organization like UNESCO.
Had this been voted on in 2008, Kosovo would have been voted into UNESCO without question. However, since then the world has seen the savage behavior of the Kosovo Albanians and sent a clear message: start acting in a civilized manner or you will lose the support you once had.

As for Albanians being the last to arrive in Kosovo, all you have to do is check Ottoman documents around 1690 when the sultan ordered the transfer of two large tribes from Albania to replace the loss of Serb taxpayers after they fled with the Austrian army. If Albanians existed in what would be Kosovo prior, they were small and largely insignificant to history and to any empire that controlled the region prior. This isn't rocket science. This is easily researched history. History that isn't rewritten by Albanian hacks who think all these churches are Albanian Catholic churches that you seemed gullible enough to believe because you'll believe anything told to you.

Serbs cried to UNESCO not to protect the sand castles of Kosovo. UNESCO hesitantly agreed. Kosovo now has the approval of UNESCO that the sand castles can be washed away. These sand castles are not important anymore. The sand from them can be put to better use, for example build public toilets.
I cannot belive that our German president not voted for UNESCO for KOSOVO + people protest everyday even if prime minister resigned ( they are not against president )

Nonsense. This is a speculation at its worst and most deceptive, and - at best - a silly case of wishful thinking.
First of all, BOTH Ukraine AND Azarbeijan are on record as strongly supporting Serbian sovereignty and territorial integrity over Kosovo. NEITHER country recognized "independent" Kosovo, and it would be entirely inconceivable for either country to vote for the secessionist movement to be admitted to a major international organization. Both countries have problems with domestic secessionists and do not wish to be seen as practicing double standards.
Neither Mongolia, nor Tajkistan nor Iran nor Iraq currently recognize "independent" Kosovo. Why would they vote for its membership in UNESCO? To contradict their own official policy?
Iran and Iraq, in view of their own problems they have had with the West, would be the last to support the western agenda. And Mongolia - landlocked by Russia and China - would essentially shoot itself in the foot by voting against its two huge neighbors.
Saudis voted yes, not surprised since Saudi is an American friend and where do you think they get all their money from that they put back into Kosovo thieves?

Kosovo can pretend, wish, believe and hope, but that will not make them a country. Kosovo is and will for most people around the globe be a province of Serbia, that said temporarily run by unsc res 1244. Its as clear as water.
It is amazing how much negative energy has Serbia spent against Kosovo joining Unesco. Are Serb leaders aware that by waging such a diplomatic negative campaign against Kosovo they are setting up themselves for a direct conflict with its neighbors, EU partners and EU itself. While nationalists in Serbia may celebrate this day as brief win; rest assured that history will judge this day differently. A day which set Serbia in direct conflict with its EU and US partners. I regret that Kosovo was unable to win today, but I see it as a victory still. They were only 3 votes shy of two thirds of the voting countries. That is great progress.
I have issues with the US allowing themselves to be put in a situation of not being able to cast a vote. But I guess this gives them reason to continue to withhold 25% of the UNESCO budget. Will Serbia's friends kick in the difference so the organization can operate at full capacity or allow it to continue to limp along?
But better luck in 2 years when Serbia is still trying to close chapter 35 so they may progress a little further toward joining the EU.
During the srbian spread of territory on Byzantium cost, a lot of monasteries were damaged and were abandoned due to conflicts but were rebuild by the local people Srb and Albanian local Lords which were the strongest ethnicities/rulers of the western Balkan/Illyrian Peninsula - Byzantium

But that they will accept the outcome no matter which way.
Like when China abstained from voting on 1244, they were upset with NATO and NATO was going to be in charge of security for Kosovo against Serbia, so they did not want to say yes but they did not want to block it either, so they let everyone else decide.

Sand castles get washed away pretty easily. Serbia's religious treasures on Kosovo-Metohija are the oldest institutions in existence there. Tell me an older one if you can. The "sandcastles" survived the Ottomans (when you arrived), Nazi Germany and the communists.
But the KLA has shown their desire to remove every last one of them for good. That is exactly why you weren't let in UNESCO.

This whole effort is an attempt to recognize kosovo as an independent entity. Its nothing but political in nature and does not respect international law. In regards to palastine, palastine does not have a UN resolution in regard to its sovereignty. So one cannot compare the two situations.
I hope K-Alb take note that Saudis,Jordania,Katar,Palestine UEA and other Islamic countries didn't vote pro Kosovo but voted pro Serbia.

As far as Carla's book that was suppose to make her rich before it was pretty much shut down. She claims she had witness statements that she was unable to further investigate. Dick Marty said that he had witness statements that had not been verified nor tested for validity.
Both recommended further investigation but both stopped short of saying it actually happened. Marty did go further in saying that IF it did happen it was no where on the scale that Serbia alleged.
Williamson conducted the actual investigation and while he came back and said that he had uncovered enough evidence of war crimes to produce indictments that he had not been able to uncover enough evidence of the organ harvesting to say it actually happened or who was responsible. But he did go further to say that IF it did occur the numbers would be less than 10 at most.
Which is believable that someone had thought of the idea, but found out it was not feasible. And further shows there was not an organized effort on the KLA.

Please show me where the Serbian Church declared war on Albanians or anybody for that matter. Prove your allegations with researchable and verifiable facts. Otherwise, you're just babbling...which we've come to expect from you.

Seeing how they needed 2/3 to be yes votes, any abastan was automatically counted as a no. More yes than no did not matter unless they had 2/3 or them.
They obviously knew that so instead of a direct poke in the eye, they chose to give their no this way.

You should have stopped with the first comment, because you just proved you do not know what abstain actually means. I will explain using simple numbers and if you read real slow maybe you can get it.
Say there are 99 countries in UNESCO, in a vote Kosovo would need 66 votes IF everyone voted. If 33 countries abtain then there would be 66 countries voting and Kosovo would need 44 votes to get in.
If 96 countries abstain then 3 voted and Kosovo would only need 2 votes to get in.
In reality 142 countries voted and 29 abstained so apparently there were only 171 present. 92 yes, 50 no(92+50 =142) 2/3 of 142 =95 and Kosovo missed by 3 votes. If the 29 abstains counted as no then Kosovo would have needed 115 and would have been 23 votes short.
Read the article and apply simple math and you can get it. Abstain is the same as the countries that did not show up, their votes were not given to the yes or the no side.

Not at all what it means Peggy, Abstaining means that for some reason they do not want to make a decision. It could be because they are in fear of offending another country, or that they simply do not care yes or no.

Serbia has evidence--joke of the century, every few months your war crimes investigator gets up with an empty folder to say we have uncovered evidence but it never makes it to the light of day does it?
As far as Carla's book that was suppose to make her rich before it was pretty much shut down. She claims she had witness statements that she was unable to further investigate. Dick Marty said that he had witness statements that had not been verified nor tested for validity.
Both recommended further investigation but both stopped short of saying it actually happened. Marty did go further in saying that IF it did happen it was no where on the scale that Serbia alleged.
Williamson conducted the actual investigation and while he came back and said that he had uncovered enough evidence of war crimes to produce indictments that he had not been able to uncover enough evidence of the organ harvesting to say it actually happened or who was responsible. But he did go further to say that IF it did occur the numbers would be less than 10 at most.
Which is believable that someone had thought of the idea, but found out it was not feasible. And further shows there was not an organized effort on the KLA.
Do you really think this compares to the 1000's of documented murder of men, women, and children by Serb military and police??

Usually, I do not respond to your post or actually read them as I find them boring and so inaccurate that I don't want to waste the time. But as you started with 9 of 44 US presidents... it caught my eye.
Actually only 4 out of 44 lost the popular vote but was elected by a majority in the electoral college. The electoral college is a bit too complicated for this forum but there is no comparison between this and the UNESCO vote.
Serbia did not put together a coalition to ban the US, the rules simply state that in order to vote a country must be up to date on its dues, they might miss a country like Serbia which contributes less that 0.5%of the budget but the US contributes 25% of the budget and that is not likely to be missed. Due to laws in the US they are forbidden to supply money to organizations that allow Palestine to join. Whether I agree with that or not does not matter, it had nothing to do with anything Serbia did or did not do.
