How many mosques were destroyed in Bosnia from 92-95? Is Serbia not part of UNESCO because of actions of a few extremists? Is Croatia part of UNESCO? They destroyed Stari Most in Mostar.

The difference is that the Croatians helped rebuild Stari-Most in Mostar although they try to blame the Serbs for destroying it. The Bosnian Serbs also helped rebuild Feradija Mosque in Banja, Luka. The Serbian state rebuilt the Mosque in Belgrade after it was damaged by Serbian demonstrations in response to the destruction of churches in Kosovo.

On the other hand, the KLA terrorists have yet to rebuild 1 of the 150 Serbian Orthodox churches razed to the ground. Right now, Albanians are threatening to take over a Serbian Orthodox Pristina church on false grounds of invalid permits.

The Albanians have shown no interest in maintaining and protecting the Serbian Orthodox Holy sites, quite the opposite, they want the complete destruction of all sites to wipe out any trace of Serbs in Kosovo.

Lk, I have been to Bosnia recently and can tell you there are mosques, old and new, everywhere in rs. How many orthodox churches left in the federation?

LK, war has been over for 20 years, show one single evidence that serbs for the past five years have vandalize or destroyed a mosque. The BBC hired a bosnian muslim to guide them to some villages which the Serbs destroyed... after filming one of the villages the bosniam muslim man ask the BBC "now would you like me to take you to some serbian villages which were destroyed by muslims", the BBC journalists said NO, they were only there to film what the Serbs had done...

Let me get this right: because the Greek orthodox church doesn't recognize Macedonia's church that automatically means Serbia should not recognize it? The fact that the Greeks don't recognize it is because of territorial ambitions which they've clearly stated in their issue with Macedonia's name. Macedonia and Serbia were a part of 1 country called Yugoslavia. The reason why Macedonia was saved from war was a) not many serbs there b) very poor republic with a lot of economic issues.
I'm again astonished at how so many focus on just the churches and no 1 mentions the education, culture, & science part of UNESCO. It is not simply about a few monuments. And who protected the churches when our common enemy the Ottomans controlled the territory for 500+ years. It wasn't Serbs.
Serbia's stance is purely political as the entrance into UNESCO would solidify & help Kosovo gain new recognition's & boost its stance in the world community. Also if admitted, Serbia will lose any leverage in negotiations during the Belgrade-Prishtina talks. It will not be able to ask/demand international guarantees that Kosovo would be held accountable for.
If Serbs were genuinely so interested in K&M they would actually visit it, settle there, invest in it, etc. This never happened prior to the wars & any investment never was allocated properly but swindled by communist party members in K&M and Belgrade and this caused resentment from the republics of Croatia and Slovenia.

The 10 years long dirty war of Serbia in Balkan makes accountable and responsible the Serb Nation for:

I will be the first to condemn the destruction of any church. If you look at the number of churches built by the orthodox church in proportion to the members in the Kosovo community one can clearly see that the churches being erected were for the purpose of claiming territory from 1980 and on to the present day and giving the impression that Kosovo is part of Serbia. No one mentions the catholic churches or mosques destroyed in Kosovo during the war. And its nice how the students relate the incident of 2004 to ISIS as if Albanians were terrorists. Yes it is shameful that churches were damaged and in some rare cases destroyed. Yes serbia claims they were all destroyed and rarely mentions damaged ones. And funds have gone to repair them but the orthodox church refused such funds from Kosovo institutions and it still sits there for the use of repair.

In Kosovo they just built a Catholic church in center of Prishtina, Serbs in 1997 started to build a church even though it was University of Prishtina land and most of population of Prishtina MAJORITY of Albanians did not want it.

Sorry but this is Serbias MO go and build churches same was done in Gjakove/Djakovica where 99.8% of people are Albanians but they build it with force. Oh and there is a Serbian Church there still what is known as Serbian Street.

Of course you conveniently forgot to mention that these articles were written about one of the tightest communist controlled countries of the world. No reporter was allowed into Yugoslavia to report the truth, they were allowed there to tell the story that the communist regime wanted the world to hear.
Do you see actual truthful journalism reporting the situation inside North Korea? No and you did not see it coming out of Yugoslavia either. It was not until the west sent spies into Yugo that the real stories started coming out.
How can you seriously try to tell people that with Serbian military present, Serbian police and judiciary. All Albanians thrown out of office, the schools closed, any Albanians forced out of their jobs and yet the Albanians were driving Serbs out.

1/ In 572 Pope Gregory during calendar reforms added another 1000 years to our history. So instead of I572 (Iisus572) or j572 (Jesus572) it turned into 1572. If you ask I can find you old documents and pictures dated in the pre-Gregorian stile. In fact the difference was from 1000 to 1100 years concerning the history of Europe/Rome and some 1800 years when it came to the ‘ancient” Greece while only 330 years were shifted in the history of Byzantine. 2/ For me the darkest part of history is the Byzantine because all books were stolen to Vatican by Pope Nicolas V in 1448. Who exactly were the Latins in Tsar Grad/Jerusalem? After the split of the empire in late 16 century Islam became state religion of one of the Hordes later called the Ottomans. The first documented mosques in the world can be found on the famous French map of Istanbul dated 1572. All those churches initially had been Orthodox Churches while before 1702 all the Sultans and Padishahs were still being burried in accordance with the Orthodox Church rules.

I, also, condemn the destruction of any type of religious structure, no matter the denomination. I agree that the reason the Serbs built so many new Orthodox churches in Kosova, beginning in the 1980's, was to attempt to claim the territory, regardless of the fact that there were not enough Serbs living in Kosova to support and fill those churches. It reminds me of when my dog goes around our neighborhood peeing on trees and fire hydrants to mark what he thinks is his territory, exclusively, and thereby notifying other dogs they are trespassing. I hope this analogy enlighten the serb readers on this site.

You need to educate yourself as to why all worldwide canonical Eastern Orthodox Churches do not recognize nor are in communion with the non-canonical Macedonian Orthodox Church.

The links seems a little odd because its they are not actual links to NYTimes but its ok. If you read the articles, you`ll see that those articles are not backing your argument. Instead they prove that the crisis and protest evolved due to a demand for more autonomie and that Kosovo was not only mismanaged but also discriminated. The articles even state that there where over 80% ethnic albanians in that region.

Number 1, I am writing for a bunch of people who English is a second language, and second I start typing and apparently LIKE YOU I do not bother with spell check or grammar check. For what purpose should I do that and waste my time and money?! I know already that most religious buildings of all faiths were destroyed by the communist regime in Albania based on the teachings of their idol, comrade Stalin, who did the same in the Soviet Union in the 1920' - 30's. For the communist regime there was only one "God", the dictator himself and there was only one "church"/"mosque", the communist party!

I will be the first to condemn the destruction of any church. If you look at the number of churches built by the orthodox church in proportion to the members in the Kosovo community one can clearly see that the churches being erected were for the purpose of claiming territory from 1980 and on to the present day and giving the impression that Kosovo is part of Serbia. There are books on this showing the systematic development of erecting churches in the territory. The same way the Serbian orthodox church doesn't recognize the macedonian orthodox church. It needs to have a foot in the door just in case things turn in its favor.

No one mentions the catholic churches or mosques destroyed in Kosovo during the war. And its nice how the students relate the incident of 2004 to ISIS as if Albanians were terrorists. Yet they totally ignore that there are as many fighters in ISIS from Serbia proper. In Kosovo they just built a Catholic church in center of Prishtina, Serbs in 1997 started to build a church even though it was University of Prishtina land and most of population of Prishtina MAJORITY of Albanians did not want it.

The difference is that the Croatians helped rebuild Stari-Most in Mostar although they try to blame the Serbs for destroying it. The Bosnian Serbs also helped rebuild Feradija Mosque in Banja, Luka. The Serbian state rebuilt the Mosque in Belgrade after it was damaged by Serbian demonstrations in response to the destruction of churches in Kosovo.

I agree that the reason the Serbs built so many new Orthodox churches in Kosova, beginning in the 1980's, was to attempt to claim the territory, regardless of the fact that there were not enough Serbs living in Kosova to support and fill those churches. Let me get this right: because the Greek orthodox church doesn't recognize Macedonia's church that automatically means Serbia should not recognize it? The fact that the Greeks don't recognize it is because of territorial ambitions which they've clearly stated in their issue with Macedonia's name. Macedonia and Serbia were a part of 1 country called Yugoslavia. The reason why Macedonia was saved from war was a) not many serbs there b) very poor republic with a lot of economic issues.
I'm again astonished at how so many focus on just the churches and no 1 mentions the education, culture, & science part of UNESCO. It is not simply about a few monuments. And who protected the churches when our common enemy the Ottomans controlled the territory for 500+ years. It wasn't Serbs.
Serbia's stance is purely political as the entrance into UNESCO would solidify & help Kosovo gain new recognition's & boost its stance in the world community. Also if admitted, Serbia will lose any leverage in negotiations during the Belgrade-Prishtina talks. It will not be able to ask/demand international guarantees that Kosovo would be held accountable for.
If Serbs were genuinely so interested in K&M they would actually visit it, settle there, invest in it, etc. This never happened prior to the wars & any investment never was allocated properly but swindled by communist party members in K&M and Belgrade and this caused resentment from the republics of Croatia and Slovenia.

Number 1, I am writing for a bunch of people who English is a second language, and second I start typing and apparently LIKE YOU I do not bother with spell check or grammar check. Even if we assume that is true, "Albanian extremists" are not the same thing as a people, the Albanians. The same way that I don't consider some members of the VRS who committed genocide in Srebrenica as being the same as a people, the Serbs.

For what purpose should I do that and waste my time and money?! I know already that most religious buildings of all faiths were destroyed by the communist regime in Albania based on the teachings of their idol, comrade Stalin, who did the same in the Soviet Union in the 1920' - 30's. For the communist regime there was only one "God", the dictator himself and there was only one "church"/"mosque", the communist party!
