Of course it is chicken feed. You miss the point here, it is two fold. Everyone knows that this human trafficking is happening so there must be some arrest, to make everything look like the govt is fighting corruption. And a message has to be sent out to small time traffickers that there is no such thing as a free ride. Big operations are never shut down because they understand that the overhead is a necessity of staying in business. They know when and to who funds must be paid.
You did not really think that there was actually a serious crackdown did you?

Also read the story again. Do you think the bulk of the money they received for smuggling would be found in one of these apartments?
Is it possible for police and border officials in Serbia to actually live their lifestyle on 500 euros a month?
I would say that a border guard is one of the highest paid positions in Serbia and of course you must pay your taxes to keep that job.
