HEY BIG FELLA, they opened their doors to a few but yet the Serbian Forces crusied on through with the blessing of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the very same people who committed rapes, torture, murder and arson were blessed by the same priest.
Maybe dramatic, but probably not nearly as someone who had to watch their daughter be gang raped, or beaten half to death, or watch their house burn, or still hoping someday to find the remains of their son or brother from some mass grave so they could give them a proper burial.

There is still some atonement they need to do for their role in creating the issue that allowed for the massacre that took place on their doorstep.

If you want to be a service based organization like UNESCO, then serve your constituency.

Funny, your sense of balance. 2004 was an event that should have never happened but it was a time bomb waiting to explode. There was 3 days of violence. 3 days versus 10 systematic years under Milosevic. You know there is only 5 years between these 3 days of unorganized violence and the scourge of Serbia where homes, mosques, schools, hospitals and businesses were destroyed and left thousands of Albanians dead and more than 800,000 expelled.
Congratulations you have joined the group that has equated the stoning of a bus by an old woman whose sons and husband were brutally murdered to the the level of a war crime for those who killed dozens. Go look in the mirror and then you will see what is disgusting!
You speak of graffiti on a wall and a "crazy" man breaking into a monastery and condemn the whole of Kosovo. You speak nothing of the shame Serbia bears to what was done to the citizens of Kosovo.
Its as if none of that happened

Oh finally a voice from somebody who is directly involved. But this has been over the media for weeks now. Why so late? Why so late? If you really wanted to oppose this, you should have spoken a lot sooner and not in the same day as the decision. Should have made a lot of noise, get all the priests there together on a march, have them write to the UNESCO Committee, or something like that. Serbian media are good at picking up even the smallest things and multiplying them 1000-fold, there would have been a lot of noise. Instead, nothing.
This shows either extreme negligence about protecting the "oh so threatened Serb buildings" or that Serb leaders are just playing a silly pretend-theater in front of their audience. Such a deep contradiction between words and actions, it is just mind boggling.

The Serbian Orthodox Church has a lot of control over Serbia, as evidenced by how Vucic, Dacic, and Nikolic consult them on every thing from international agreements to potty breaks.
So the question remains, with so much influence, why did they allow the murder, rape, torture, and forced removal and mass graves that were committed by Serbs in the late 90's.
Their blessings to these acts are no different than the supposed promise of 40 virgins for radical Islamist committing terrorist acts.

Grow up Kosovo! If you want to be treated as a civilised country, start acting like one. Protect the existing sites properly to show that you are ready for UNESCO
(Dwight, 21 October 2015 14:54)

Yep yep. Fr. Sava is widely respected by international officials in Kosovo, so his fears of Serbian churches being claimed by Albanian historical revisionists are unfounded since no one in any First World country takes these claims remotely seriously. What's more, the SPC in Kosovo is protected by a number of existing international agreements and guarantees that all but prevents an Albanian from looking at them funny - let alone building anything in their proximity. If Kosovo joins UNESCO, there will have to be some serious decisions as to what in Kosovo is part of the so-called "Republic of Kosovo" and what is part of Serbia. Idiots in the internet and in the street can say whatever the want, but Thaci and Mustafa want to prove to the world they can wear big boy pants now so if they get this symbolic victory of membership, they're going to have to start acting like the refined people they keep trying to tell the rest of the world they are.

Maybe they can finally get some money to pay for the cleanup of that Serbian cemetery just south of the Ibar that conveniently keeps getting desecrated by "Gypsies and Ashkalis", though I suspect that money will go towards adding a helipad to Thaci's turbo-mansion and helping Mustafa's bratty son buy up another taxi service.

I am of the opinion that Kosovo should be recognised as a state by Serbia. However I do not think that Kosovo is ready for UNESCO. There are 4 UNESCO sites in Kosovo, 2 of which have been damaged in the last year by locals.
All are surrounded by barbed wire and have gurads for protection from locals.
I understand the resentment as members of the SOC blessed weapons used to murder Kosovo civilians but there were also many cases of these very buildings offering protection to local civilians from both Serbian militias and the KLA, including this man Sava Janjic who took albanians into his monastery for protection from Serbian army who were burning and looting nearby homes

Judging from the first two comments way below, K has some growing up to do.

If you want to be a service based organization like UNESCO, then serve your constituency.
