People like you that have read something somewhere think you know it all. Sadly, you have no idea, you have been nowhere and seen nothing. You’re an internet troll that thinks you have it all at your fingertips.
I have been to Serbia in the last month or so and I know that it is in a poor state, but people like you tell me that Croatia and Slovenia are richer I then ask the question, how? Their biggest income earner is tourism, but it only last 3 months of the year. When I ask where does the rest of that income come from? All I get is “verifiable data” crap.
I then remind them of the rating agencies giving the toxic loan AAA+ rating which was “verifiable data”, all I get is deadly silence.

I spent two week in Athens in August and stayed in Omonia which is very close to the Greek Parliament and you are correct that large sections of Athens does look like a war zone. I also went to inland Greece and was horrified to see the number of towns whose businesses are just hanging on.
The problem with numbers and statistics is that you can manipulate them to suit any purpose.
The US level of unemployment is well above 15% and that is something even respected US academics agree. Even your figure of 95 million living off food stamps would tell you that 15% does not sound right.
Also, electing Trump will not help the US. The US is too far gone to pull itself out of the financial quagmire. It will owe 20 trillion by December 2015 and it has already signed up for its next trillion dollars for 2016.
Trump can do nothing. He is only playing to the audience to get elected.

j

Verifiable data eh? Prior to the GFC in 2008, I recall that the western rating agencies gave all toxic loans the AAA+ rating and look what happened there. I could sell people like you land on Alpha Centruri and you would walk away feeling you got a good deal LOl.
However, I see you have not answered the question “how does Slovenia and Croatia maintain this wealth?
(sj, 22 October 2015 09:06)

The question you should ask is how Serbia keeps managing to maintain its poverty?

Also the very fact that you have this illusion of grandeur about your own intelligence proves the opposite. Every fool I've met in my life thought he was super smart and they could sell people anything. All they could sell was, tons of illusion to their own mind. Don't flatter yourself. I have a feeling the next Einstein is not posting on B92; accept reality and join the rest of the mere mortals.

I feel sorry for you poor dumb people for two reasons. Firstly, power is now moving from Washington to Moscow and Beijing – look at Syria where the Russians are doing things with impunity. In the South east Asia region the US wants to challenge China’s claim to a few coral islands and their “strongest ally” Australia, and it has announced that they are not taking part in any sea patrols with the US.
Secondly, Turkey has been on the list for 30 years so far and it still not in the EU. Do you think that the EU will let Kosovo in so that Albanians can leave? Germany will return thousands from Kosovo to cope with the current influx of people from Syria.
The EU grab for land is like Mr Creosote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXH_12QWWg8
But its all too late LOL.

No wonder they led you around by your nose.
(sj, 21 October 2015 14:18)

Well, comes to question the GDP per capita numbers that are produced by the IMF and others. I was recently in both Belgrade and Athens, and let me tell you, Athens looked like a war zone in some areas with slums and people sleeping on the streets everywhere. You cannot say the same about Belgrade. Now look at the GDP per Capita numbers, Greece at over $25 thousand, Serbia around $13 thousand. The only possible explanation is the complete eradication of the middle class. As well, the US posts unemployment figures of 5-6 %; over 95 Million American citizens are on food stamps or have dropped out of the employment pool. The real unemployment rate is closer to 15% is not higher.

If you think Athens is bad, try going to work in Los Angeles, USA you can't! Most of downtown LA businesses have shut down or moved. Many business flights are going to the Orange County airport to avoid the LA international airport. The American media especially CNN has stolen pages off Nazi Propaganda minister Goebbels and the American people are finally getting it as the polls suggest with Donald Trump leading in the Republican race.

What verifiable data? I’ve seen data in official publications that is pure rubbish. The world bank is no better than the CIA World fact book or IMF – these are all controlled by the US. ? Bullshit is bullshit mate.

Its like the US economic recovery. Since 2008 month after month you read and hear how the US is recovering – its all crap. Then the fact that China has overtaken the US as No1 economy. In what western publication/site have you seen this stated? Not one, but like it or not it has happened. Maybe by the year 4052 they will finally admit it.

Now tell me how does Slovenia and Croatia maintain this wealth? What productions do they have? Slight of hand?

(sj, 20 October 2015 13:32)
True, but alas that "potential" will never see reality, not as long as Serbia wants to bury its head in the sand and think that they can have it all. Kosovo is lost to Serbia and been that way for 15 years, and it is being sponsored by the very club Serbia wants to join. Note the EU is to sign pre-ascension agreement with Kosovo next week. How many decades will Serbia be stuck in chapter 35?

They were richer when in Yugoslavia but not now my little friend. Go and have a look for yourself. Don’t look up some website and look at the PPP of these countries but go and talk to people that live there. Slovenes openly state that they are unhappy today and that they lived much better in Yugoslavia. Even Croats are making the same noises.
These two countries live off tourism and that is 3 months of the year i.e June, July and August so what do they do for the rest? If the EU did not supplement their budgets they would be poorer than Albania.

Albanians are leaving Kosovo for the same reason Serbs in south Serbia (Presevo,Bujanovac) are leaving South Serbia: economic reasons.
Kosovo's politicians may be incompetent, but so are Serbia's. From your comments it sounds like Serbia is the paradise on earth.
What's the common denominator in Balkans are corrupt politicians using national issues as scapegoat for their own failures trying to find guilty parties at traditional "enemies" instead of their own policies.
Language aside, there is no social difference if you are in Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro or Macedonia. The official"party"line is that its neighbors fault why we are poor and miserable, but somehow media thirsty politicians are our solution or saviors.

I have yet to hear of a plan as to how are we going to get Kosovo back.
War seems out of the question, and I dont see many serbs going to fight there other than crazy ultras.
Suppose we convinced them to join Serbia voluntarily, that would involve as a minimum Albanian as an official language, 1/3 of the parliament will be Albanian with veto power, the country will be deadlocked for ever with political wranglings.
Furthermore, overtime, their population would increase more than Serbia's and in all probability will be the majority mid term, so the fate of Kosovo might befall over all Serbia and Serbs be minority in their own country.
I always maintained that if we had smart politicians we should recognize Kosovo against some economic concessions from EU, but nationalist ideologies dont die so easily. Kosovo is lost and it is better for Serbia so, why our politicians cant see it, it baffles me.

Good point however not the same thing Eu says they dont want another Cyprus and lets face it no EU country recognises Turk area ( no country except Turkey).

(Ari Gold, 19 October 2015 18:40)

1) Well let's face it 106 countries have recognised Kosovo so far numbers will be smaller as the fact some for own reasons some for geopolitical reasons will not do so.
But since Vucic Took office Kosovo joined Olympic comity and will join UNESCO, So will Councill of Europe and UEFA lets give it time.

Let's wait till May next year and see true results after UNESCO, after UEFA, Councill of Europe and Chapter 35 opens.

My opinion why EU wants Serbia to make it in writing is that they want this to be closed and no change in other borders. Kurti on the other side is an idiot Serbs should rule their area as long as its within Kosvo constitution, and they should get money direct if it comes for them only be it from Serbia, Russia, or even say you personally you want to send money to them direct you should without Albanians taking a cut nothing wrong with that.

Here are the facts on Kosovo-Metohija

1.) Since Vucic has been in power, only two countries have recognized Kosovo-Metohija as an independent state.
2.) Serbia has on its side the largest country in the world and the two most populated countries.
4.) NATO powers have occupied Kosovo-Metohija for many years and Serbia has not had control over its province since 1999. Serbia has not challenged that, and yet there is still enormous amounts of pressure to get Serbia to agree to its own capitulation. Why? Why is Serbia's recognition of such significance to this whole project if it already can't control most parts of Kosovo-Metohija?
5.) The KLA have unsuccessfully tried to steal more Serbian property in the past year (Trepca, Brezovica and Gazivoda), but foreign investors will not buy it from the KLA because in business, property rights are eternal. And they know who it really belongs to.
6. The Association of Serb Municipalities give the Serb community de-facto separation from Pristina and allow for Serbia to directly finance the economies of these municipalities. This the KLA as agreed to and Kurti has been trying to start a civil war ever since.
7.) This year over 100,000 Albanians- somewhere around 5% of the population of Kosovo-Metohija, took desperate measures to leave because the KLA have ruined their living standards.

^^^For these reasons, the status quo suits Serbia just fine. Kosovo-Metohija does not function in Serbia, but is not a country either.

Quite the show coming from Belgrade these days. After securing more institutional guarantees over Kosovo than Serbia has had in more than a decade, SANU the ever-present organization of gloom and doom for everything Serbian says the game is up, and Toma plays right into it. Truth is, no one side controls Kosovo; not Belgrade, not Pristina, not even the US. If anyone or anything controls Kosovo, it's a small handful of individuals, Albanian and Serbian, who barely conceal their links to organized crime and political corruption. But of course if one measures control in absolutes, both SANU and Vetevendosje believe Kosovo is out of the hands of its "rightful" owners.

You only have the right to get involved in political discourse in Serbia if you're the head of the Serbian church. Otherwise, the President says you must shut up if you're the head of any other institution.Unless of course you say what he tells you to say. So one day Serbia behaves as if it is Iran, ruled by Ayatollah Amfilohje and mullah Irenjej. The next day it behaves like North Korea, ruled by the Almighty marvelous leader, Nikolic Jong Un.

My opinion why EU wants Serbia to make it in writing is that they want this to be closed and no change in other borders.

Secondly, Turkey has been on the list for 30 years so far and it still not in the EU. Do you think that the EU will let Kosovo in so that Albanians can leave? Germany will return thousands from Kosovo to cope with the current influx of people from Syria.

Let's face the facts already :

1. All of Kosovo will be under same law and Constitution of Kosovo ( which is in direct contradiction with Serbian) - So when Vucic/Dacic signed it in Brussels they broke it.

2. Chapter 35 and Brussels agreement and future agreements are there to save face and let down Serbs from Kosovo down easy - Kinda like you do with the crazy girlfriend.

3. What is Serbias solution for Kosovo a) Dacic says partition which EU does not want as there goes Bosnia and Macedonia which will go well for Serbs and Albanians but not the rest.
b) Vucic has not put any plan.
c) If Serbia was serious to have Kosovo as a part of Serbia right after the war would make Albanian official Language and gave Kosovo Veto over its territory etc etc but they want Kosovo without the people and never had a sound solution for people there.
Now is ball in Albanins said to give rights to Serbs they wanted in Yugoslavia.

Time will tell but as of today Serbia has no control of Kosvo and North is still under NATO and not possible for them to cut off ( no man's land will be closed with chapter 35).

North has 45K residents and with Borders closing they have no choice but to corporates.

Ari also many Serbs are leaving Serbia my roommates two sisters just left for Germany as Doctors this is not just Kosovo problem but Balkan problem.

Nikolic wants the guy to lose his job because he said something that confronts his beliefs. I've said it before and I'll say it again. As bad as Kosovo's political elite is they still come out much brighter then Serbia's.
Nikolic is a buffoon.

This guy insults moderate Serbs every time he speaks. Pure comedy.

The reaction of the president of Serbia Mr. Nikolic on the statement of the president of SANU about Kosovo reminds me the reactions of the dictatorial president of North Korea Kim Jong Una.
Where is the right of thought and personal expression in Serbia?!!!
(Notorious, 19 October 2015 17:14)

You only have the right to get involved in political discourse in Serbia if you're the head of the Serbian church. Otherwise, the President says you must shut up if you're the head of any other institution.Unless of course you say what he tells you to say. So one day Serbia behaves as if it is Iran, ruled by Ayatollah Amfilohje and mullah Irenjej. The next day it behaves like North Korea, ruled by the Almighty marvelous leader, Nikolic Jong Un.

This guy is speaking the truth, reality cannot be denied for too long.

Nikolle

As for the statement itself, what has he actually that needs defending? He has said was it plainly obvious, Serbia does not run Kosovo. It has not run it for 16 years and it will not run it again. The best Serbia can achieve, is a degree of influence, that is the maximum it can hope for. Running it, meaning making its laws, collecting taxes, patrolling its borders etc, that day has gone and it has been consigned to the dust bins of history. sj and Ari Gold can still navigate holy Kosmet on Google maps, to get that feeling of being in charge again

oh no for sj, Serbia is doing really, pretty soon it will have enough reserves to buy Greece. as for Kosovo and Albania, I agree with you, they are dumps, so is the heavenly land however, it is the reason you live as far away from it as possible.

Oh, that's great actually. That means that Kosovo has achieved its goal of not being run by Serbia (EU, Yankees, etc, etc... all is fine for Kosovo). It's so good that Kosovo has the CE of B92 forums sj thinking day and night about Kosovo's wellbeing...

Which sj are you talking about? is it the first, second or third person sj? Or is it another sj which speaks to you from your head?

They were richer when in Yugoslavia but not now my little friend. Go and have a look for yourself. Don’t look up some website and look at the PPP of these countries but go and talk to people that live there. Slovenes openly state that they are unhappy today and that they lived much better in Yugoslavia. Even Croats are making the same noises.
These two countries live off tourism and that is 3 months of the year i.e June, July and August so what do they do for the rest? If the EU did not supplement their budgets they would be poorer than Albania.
Please note the refugees don’t want to stay in Croatia or Slovenia.

No wonder they led you around by your nose.

However, I see you have not answered the question “how does Slovenia and Croatia maintain this wealth?

No Serbia is not doing good, but its potential is far, far greater than any of the other former Yugoslav states. I been to all of them.

@sj
