- finally the worst kept secret has had the cat let out of the bag - opening chapter 35 is not conditioned as stated by German ministers again and again in a bid to pull the wool over Serbia's eyes while technically right they say it so disingenuously knowing that the chapter is all about an enforced recognition as a process that can only be closed with what is tantamount to recognition!

Serbia should decline the offer of opening chapter 35 in the form presented - even this implies a willingness to recognition. Perhaps this is why Vucic wants elections - does he want to go ahead with this deceit?

The sad thing is, I truly believe that these arrogant Serbs actually believed that the world would fall under their power and they could dictate the terms of Kosovo!

The thing is that the population of Serbia is declining. Just like you or your family, more and more young people know that they have a desolate life for them in Serbia and the best thing is to escape this barbaric life of resistance you claim that only serves to keep them one step above third world status.
Turning their back on the EU will only remove that step. If you think Russia (or China) has the interest to keep you in the modern world you are in for a big surprise. Your value at the moment is a door into the EU. Russia wants its spies inside of the EU and also NATO, China sees how Serbia is being coddled and groomed by the EU and it has become a valuable market for the Chinese economy. Close that door and see how quickly their interest fades.
The thing is none of this is a surprise to anyone, not even Serbs who claim it is all new.
Anyone who thinks/thought that Serbia could come into the EU claiming Kosovo as their province when 23 out of 28 countries of the EU recognize Kosovo as a sovereign country, are either playing dumb or are actually a total idiot.
While it has been said that a formal recognition of Kosovo is not a precondition, it has been clear from day one that Serbia must consider Kosovo a "neighbor", meaning it is a separate entity, and not part of Serbia.

The question is are they truly naïve or utterly stupid?

Serbia really needs to keep repeating this over and over and over again. Kosovo is Serbia. Serbia will never negotiate away Kosovo for anything, not EU membership, not all the money in Germany, not for power. They really are not going to do that.

There is a popular sense in the world today that just because you can get away with something, that the precedence somehow has the force of law. It never does. Facts on the ground are just facts on the ground and these kind of facts can change in the blink of an eye. There is a greater stability that governs human affairs, the force of Reality. All the brainwashing, intimidation and hypnosis in the world cannot remove its influence.
