This is very embarrassing for the U.S. They could not complete the mission because they refused to engage the Syrian army and Iran as part of a solution, and maybe because they would not target Saudi backed rebels. Putin seems to have a free hand to do whatever it takes. If Iran enters in significant numbers, If the Syrian army is replenished and makes gains into ISIS territory, less radicals will travel to Syria just to be killed, and ISIS will be much weaker. I am very hopeful for a short war and an end to the suffering of all people in Syria.

It's getting interesting. The only outcome that we could be absolutely sure about since the beginning of this conflict is that Syrians will suffer immensely.

"...Saudi Arabia, "a leading foe of President Bashar al-Assad," has "demanded his ally Russia end its raids on Syria, saying the strikes had caused civilian casualties.."

Saudi Arabia? Worried about civilian casualties? Interesting. They, too , are involved in fight to prompt regime in another country - Yemen.
There, they are siding with Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who, like Assad in Syria, won the elections in which he was the only candidate, and is no less tyrant then Assad in any way.
They lead coalition of Arabs backed by US.

Saudis are concerned about yesterday's report of 35 civilian casualties of Russian bombing that hasn't been independently confirmed yet? What about their own airstrikes that killed 130 wedding guests just 3 days ago? Or 79 civilians who died in airstrikes last week?
