Vucic must know he is barking up the wrong tree!

For one the US is not the EU and has little if any influence on entry to the EU, secondly who exactly in the US will be governing given upcoming presidency elections - Obama is waning fast!

Seems like like a desperate indirect appeal to "EU friends" .

It's more than clear that EU have put off once more the decision to open chapters and a last desperate plea in Brussels looms. That's why Vucic now says will decide on elections (again!) after his dinner date with "EU friends" in brussels.

Vucic should just get on with it and focus on reforming and truly implementing reforms that are in Serbia's interest irrespective of EU accession! Focus on what needs to be done in Serbia's interest and the EU will fall in place if it's wanted rightly or wrongly or for that matter whatever the EU is at that time!

Vucic just get on and do what you know needs to be done.

Why not? Why not it languish? Is it really just idleness on the part of the EU? Do you think the Serbs are complete idiots? How may Serbs really believe that they will ever get in to the EU, and of those, how are many are secretly relieved?

The EU just wants to see Serbia dance with chains on its feet.

Although the US wields a lot of power, it is not they who decide who joins the EU. Open, complete and close the chapters necessary and then hope that no-one comes up with a reason to veto membership (disputed fishing rights for example!). personally I'm not sure it's the right thing for Serbia given everything that will have to happen over the next 5-7 years.
