NATO: Kosovo's army is "internal matter"

NATO is not the one to decide on the structure, mandate and mission of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), an unnamed NATO source has been quoted by a daily.

"Should the mandate and the mission of the force evolve, the North Atlantic Council will have to assess the level of NATO's engagement,"

If you read between the lines, NATO is saying that if the KLA rearms itself as the "kosovo army" they will have to reassess their presence in Kosovo-Metohija. It would be in the interest of Serbia's for NATO not to be in Kosovo-Metohija the next time the Serbian population experiences organized violence and pogroms.

Ari,
Apparently, you were rather giddy while reading between the lines which caused you to miss the part which inferred, at that time Kosova has its own army, she would also be a member of NATO. Consequently, at that point Bondsteel will be Kosova's NATO base. To avoid making a fool of yourself again, you might want to carefully read EVERYTHING that is written between the lines.

Now it's clear... Russia goes into Syria and all of a sudden it's ok for the province of Kosovo to have an army. The big boys are playing and we are ALL the Pawns.

If it's an internal matter then it will be blocked by the Serbs. Kosovo will have to learn to live with KSF only. Besides, only Albanians escalate tensions in the region so it's stupid to give them an army when they're already a nuisance.

Kosovo, like everyone else has every right to defend itself. Serbia has no say so in regards to Kosovos formation of army. NATO does support it clearly, and I am sure most of Kosovos allies in the western world do too. Serbia indeed has made many enemies around her, so it is obvious why Serbia would want Kosovo to be weak. Serbia has been signing agreements with Kosovo on the same level of statehood, yet it turns around and pretends as if they have a say over what goes on in kosovos internal matters.
NATO armed forces have been training Kosovos soon to be army for years. I am sure they didn't do it for the pleasure of serbia to act as it can stop it. Many more things will take place in Kosovo, which serbia has no presence or any kind of authority. Learn to live with it, and go about your business.
