I wonder if it was a US made or a German bomb ? The political correctness tune of the article makes me think that it was an American bomb. Because since 1944 they launched the barbaric bombings of the territories that were expected to be the Soviet zone of influence. Most often such bombings had no military importance and were aimed at creating of postwar problems for the bombed states. In March 1945 the Nazi stopped to resist in the west and sent all their forces to the eastern front. So the bombings were shifted eastwards as well.
