While it is true that Serbia has its financial difficulties, it also has a great amount of care for *people*, instead of just writing off refugees as burdens deserving of no care, respect, dignity, or home. The fact that there IS no real place for people to run from what's happening -- it's systemic and probably unfixable without a LOT of countries trying a LOT harder -- doesn't change the fact that people want to HOPE for a place they can go to for rest and reprieve. It might make more sense for people to be asking more, and more often, what it is that people are trying to get away from and how much of that is caused by undue interventionism (nb: I'm fully aware not all of it is), how much is due to financial hardship, and how much the rest of the world is willing to care -- or SACRIFICE -- instead of merely thinking of themselves and allowing a sense of xenophobic class-centric bliss rule their opinions and their prejudices rule their actions.

It sure beats people up and building barb-wire fences. What's next, internment camps?

At least Vucic is TRYING to be HUMANE. I'd love to see more humaneness. These aren't 'pests' -- they're individuals, and they're every bit as human as you or I. They deserve compassion too.
