"Those endangering UNESCO heritage shouldn't join UNESCO"

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic says he is convinced that the UN, "if asked," will give a negative opinion on Pristina's bid to join UNESCO as a member.

The Serbian government have helped reconstruct many mosques including one of the larger Mosques in Banja Luca that was damaged during the war.

(Jugoslavija, 17 August 2015 23:02)

Atheist here, so the religious issue matters little to me (it'd be better if they didn't exist at all), but the argument you're making is facetious to say the least. This is about Kosova, not Bosnia, Australia or Zimbabwe. Concentrate. If Serbs are going to claim that Kosova should not be admitted to UNESCO because churches were destroyed, well Serbia should be expelled from UNESCO because it has destroyed both churches and Mosques. Equal is equal; no need for long winded lame justifications on Bosnia. Don't give a $hit about Bosnia on this argument. It has nothing to do with the issue at hand. You're just trying to cover your own $hit with pi$$ and it doesn't fly here. Serbia is making an argument where it has no stand. As always. If Serbia can be a member, there is no argument at all in this world that would nullify Kosova's membership. None. Of course other than Serb bitternes, which is in full swing here. Either both Kosova and Serbia are members or none can be members. That is the only just outcome if you're going to make arguments based on destruction of religious buildings. Both have done it so both deserve the same treatment. Easy. Case closed.

While modern Serbia has destroyed hundreds of mosques and catholic churches in the region, Kosova seeks to become a part of UNESCO, in order to honor and protect world heritage sites. Bring Kosova in, and if necessary, kick out Serbia. Serbian fascism knows no limits...

You forgot to mention the over 150 Serbian Orthodox Monasteries and Churches attacked in Kosovo as well as others across Bosnia/Herzegovina and Croatia during the civil war. Not one of the 150 Orthodox Churches have been reconstructed , quite the opposite. The Serbian government have helped reconstruct many mosques including one of the larger Mosques in Banja Luca that was damaged during the war.

Russian version of history is so totally opposite of that of western civilization.

POT CALLING

In every science steps are made for progress when many people investigate things and write books or dissertations. Then someone accumulates it all and makes a summary of all the previous achievements. It is quite logical. But in history it was quite the opposite. Someone called Joseph Scaliger once wrote 3 books about the chronology of the mankind. Without any proof he said that Jesus had been born not 6 centuries as all in Europe believed but 16 centuries before. He didn’t even tried to explain why so most of the scientists including Isaac Newton just laughed at him. Yet in early 17 century Dionisius Petavius Jr. wrote another 3 books that improved Scaliger’s version a bit but also gave almost no evidence of anything. They appointed Hujra of Mohammad for the year of 622 , they said that Israel (Russia), Judea (Istanbul region), Palestine (Balkans) , Bethlehem (Crimea) were all on a small spot in a stone desert of Africa … Every single item of their medieval history was changed or totally rewritten. To say nothing that the “ancient” Roman , Egyptian and Greek histories described in detail the events in the medieval Great Horde. All those Titus Livius, Herodotus ect. describe well known events of the medieval Europe, Turkey and Russia. Same false are the histories of China, India and other barbarians.

Thanks, for one of your many Russian history lessons. But it in no way has anything to do with the fact that Serbia is just as guilty if not more of destroying mosques as the Albanians are of destroying churchs and are being hypocritical in their portrayal of the Albanians as destroying UNESCO historical sites.
I find it interesting that the Russian version of history is so totally opposite of that of western civilization.

The only point he is trying to make is that the Albanians destroyed several Serbian medieval churches in 2004 that were under UNESCO protection and now they want to join the same organization.
(Nikola, 15 August 2015 13:16)
Maybe you need to check your facts Nikola, During the March 2004 3 days of rioting there were NO Unesco sites in Kosovo the 4 sites that were added LATER that year are still standing and are under protection of NATO peacekeepers.
While there were several churches damaged and some destroyed during the riots NONE of them were UNESCO sites as at that time none had been designated.
So not much difference in the destruction of churches that were nonUNESCO in 2004 and Mosques that were nonUNESCO in 1999.

Nobody fought the Ottomans more than the Russians but none of the sides ever destroyed church or a mosque and they always knew that both religions had the same routes. The truth is that the first mosques were Orthodox Churches reconstructed into mosques. And of course Christians were coming to such churches to tray the way they were used to. As well as the Muslims before 18 century prayed in our churches. First mosques built as mosques appeared only in 17 century after the split inside the Great Horde. And in 1702 for the first time a Sultan was buried in accordance with Islam. I don’t know how exactly all it was but I can prove that it wasn’t the way we are told today. Balkan peoples conquered the soil now belonging to Turey. And if you see the siege of Constantinople story of 1453 you will find that it was attacked from the Balkans only ! And the winners gave new name to the city – Stanbul i.e. Stan of the Bulgars. So it were the Serbs, Macedonians, Bulgars, Albanians ect. who colonized “the turks”. As you must know Bulgar means PEOPLE FROM VOLGA as greater part of you have Russian routes while Veliki Novgorod (Yaroslavl) stood on Volga river. If you start to think this way you will see why Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) was a white skin and why they called him the Fatih (Conqueror) Prophet just like Mehmet II the Fatih.

Contradictions between Belgrade and Pristina have little to do to the issue of the monuments in Kosovo and other parts of the Balkans. One side is trying to keep it territory while the other is trying to legalize what they already have de facto. It always happens so. But the discussion of who destroyed more of the churches and the mosques is quite another issue. Third thig is UNESCO itself as it’s a big question if this organization is good or not. I personally don’t trust them as it’s one of the tools used to cement the false history we were imposed. Because as soon as you join them you lose part of sovereignty over the monuments on your territory. You can do limited things with them. And they tell you the mainstream to position the artefacts in accordance to the western version of the past. So the Horde strongpoint in 140 km from Belgrade WITH ZERO EVIDENCE was declared a Roman city of 1 century. Moreover they even found a name for it – VIMINACIUM. Same with the mosques and monasteries in Kosovo. All of them belonged and were built during the Great Horde (later called the Ottomans) where they had no favorite peoples and religions. So it’s stupid to call them Albanian or Serbian as both peoples lived here. Demographical misbalance of the 20 century in Kosovo and western involvement created this crisis. "Another category of historical architecture in urgent need of
protection in Kosovo is Muslim houses of worship. This part of
Europe is home to an indigenous Islamic tradition going back more
than 600 years, with its own rich architectural heritage--mosques,
tekkes (lodges of the Sufi lay brotherhoods), medreses (theological
schools), Islamic libraries, hamams (Turkish baths), and bazaars
built to support charitable foundations. This heritage suffered
massive destruction during the recent conflict. In the majority of
cases, it was evident from the statements of eyewitnesses, from the
type of damage (mosques burned out from within, with no bullet or
shrapnel holes; minarets that had been blown up with explosives
placed inside, causing the stone spire to collapse onto the
building), and from visible signs of vandalism (Koran manuscripts
ripped from bindings and burned or defaced with human excrement,
crude anti-Muslim and anti-Albanian graffiti in Serbian on the walls
of destroyed and desecrated mosques) that this destruction was not
the result of military activities.

According to statistics published before the war, there were 607
mosques in Kosovo as of 1993. the majority dated

all Islamic houses of worship in Kosovo--were destroyed or damaged

Does anyone know who this individual named "UN" is? Because if he is speaking of the United Nations as a group, they have no opinion. Any "opinion" would have to be a majority decision and since a majority of countries support Kosovo as a country, the only opinion would be in favor. Also since the overwhelming majority of UNESCO members are UN members why would you ask for an opinion from them instead of just allowing a vote?
And should he be speaking of the secretary-general of UNESCO, that would be an opinion from the head of UNESCO and not an official stance from the "UN".
Either the pressure of being the Foreign Minister of a rogue nation along with chairmanship of OSCE, and maintaining his contacts with Organized Criminals and keeping the lid on that has caused a severe mental breakdown or he actually has a friend named "UN" but it is doubtful since no one knows him or her will actually be interested in their opinion.
Other options, there could be a debate in the UNGA when it convenes in September, after the vuc debate on the ICTY does Serbia really want to risk something like that.
There could be a debate in the UNSC in which the majority would support Kosovo, but it always has a veto provision so there will never be a unified opinion there.
UNMIK could render an opinion but that would not be the UN and by Serbian insistence MUST remain status neutral, so it would not adventure on the court.
So please introduce us all to "UN"

Dacic, you just put the in the same sentence; military parade in Zagreb and pristinas bid in UNESCO! No wonder serbia has been playing catch up with her neighbors for decades.
What if someone was to question your countrys military participation in Moscow? Moscow how illegally annexed crimea, Moscow has been contributing nothing but instability to eastern Europe. Your country took part in it, and you have the nerves to talk about who you've observed that might of taken part in Zagreb military parade!

No wonder Greece is tired of servia playing this two-face game in regards to macedonia and kosovo. Serbia is in trouble, I mean worse than ever before. As far as UNESCO bid goes, kosovo will become a member of it, and I don't see why they wanna be apart of it so badly anyway. UNESCO is one of the weakest organizations out there.
Serbia thinks they can stop it, and Kosovo wants it badly.

The ignorant, illiterate, albo trolls who pollute this site daily are upset that their church burning is being brought to the spotlight and rubbed in the face of their imperial masters. You people are so stupid and devoid of any historical knowledge, it's quite humorous to read your posts. When I read them I can certainly tell why both albania and occupied Kosovo are third world hell holes. Just enjoy the beautiful Serbian Orthodox Monasteries all over Kosovo while you still can, they are true works of art, and they were all built by Serbs :)

"You can't say Islamic State are terrorists destroying Islam's and other religions' cultural heritage - and here award those who set churches on fire and destroy crosses with UNESCO membership," Dacic said, in an apparent reference to ethnic Albanian violence in Kosovo targeting Serb Orthodox Christian holy sites a decade ago.

-- Serbia has turned into Milosevician Serbia again. All the signs are there. You have learned nothing. You will not win by turning this political issue into a religious one. Especially by trying to set some idiotic equivalency between Kosova and ISIS. You will always lose that battle. These were the same tactics Milosevic used. These are the same tactics Serbia is using now, doing their best to mask their xenophobia, and ultranationalism as a religious issue where Serbia is allegedly defending western values. The West defaced your ugly terror state in the 90's where Serbia had the megaphone when it came to propaganda regarding Kosova. Now that the west is present there and Serbia no longer has the monopoly on propaganda, the truth is easier to see. Also to the Serbs, beware, your state is involving the church in political matters. If the past is an indicator, Serbia will be in a period of unrest pretty soon.

But we don’t have to take as a Gospel everything they tell us while UNESCO is a tool of theirs. Not ours !

POT CALLING THE KETTLE

Daniel read the following excerpt:

According to statistics published before the war, there were 607
mosques in Kosovo as of 1993. the majority dated
from Ottoman times.[8] More than 200 of these mosques--a third of
all Islamic houses of worship in Kosovo--were destroyed or damaged
during the recent conflict,"

There is actually 2 reasons for that.
1. Almost every mosque was destroyed during the Milosevic scourge of Kosovo. Ironic, isn't it that Serbia does not mention that when they speak of the destruction of ortho churches.
2. It is the country that decides to submit sites to UNESCO for inclusion as a historical site. Do you really think Serbia would have submitted a mosque? Kosovo has been unable to submit any sites due to nonmembership, which could change.
