What is Russia's motive to impose counter sanctions against certain other nations? Is is Russia's purpose to be vengeful or spiteful or just to show certain nations that actions can have consequences.

Quite frankly, Montenegro feels the Albanian pressure and it has no other choice but to satisfy Albania. Soon Serbia will follow suit.

"Albania is the counter-sanctions list too": what does it mean? Tirana won't be able anymore to export human organs, drug and prostitutes to Russia?

a couple of our Serbian friends, Vaso and Ida, were discussing the likelihood that some Montenegrins were probably a mix of Serbian and Albanian ethnicity. I'd have to check, but maybe even Peggy was in agreement

Let me save to the trouble, it wasn't me. This was the first time I heard of it. I agreed that Montenegrin students should not get any special treatment as far as fees are concerned.

Regarding Montenegro some harsh words now! A few months back I recall reading that Montenegro willing to become NATO ( Nazi Alliance Terrorist Organization ) member, SHAME! A good example back in 1999 during Satans murder of Christian Eastern Orthodoxy in the Balkans, NATO used Romanian air ports as staging bases of Devils bombing air craft headed to murder and exterminate Serbian people in Serbia. So Romania also a Christian Eastern Orthodox people aided Satan with murdering Christian Eastern Orthodoxy and was very quickly rewarded by becoming EU and NATO members. So will Montenegro provide NATO with bases for Devils killer air craft to murder their Serbian brothers next time the Christian Eastern Orthodox Holocast is reinstated? Any Serbian who spits on his Slava and his faith better they never of been born! Any Serbian who turns their back on Mother Russia, the same better they never been born! Serbian people never united and always divided! The enemies of Serbia stand united and Serbia falls divided! Serbia needs to become united, Liberty and Peace will never come unless we Serbians are united! The whole Balkan region needs one strong and powerfull Christian Eastern Orthodox leader to unite and ensure that ALL Christian Eastern Orthodox people most profoundy love and respect each other! God Bless Russia, God Bless Czar Vlade and God Bless all Christian Eastern Orthodox Russian people in the whole wide world!!!

It is a country of 600,000+ souls so it is rather small for a 'system of hospitals', though it does a decent one in Podgorica and quite a few good clinics.

The main problem is that Montenegro is fairly poor, save the tourism and related construction boom. Medicine isn't cheap.
If anything, I've noticed that they smoke far, far too much (not just the older generation) and drive like lunatics, those wooden crosses on the mirror won't save them.

A lot of the rest you write is quite accurate. Many of the top people studied in Belgrade and Zagreb in the old days and still do.

Hopefully Djukanovic and his clan who have been running Montenegro since 1997 will be thrown out, but there's no real pressure to deal with this from anybody, only that it won't join the EU unless it actually deals with its serious corruption.

It's just too small to do much by itself.

The Montenegrin question is kind of vexing. Lots of comments like factman's have appeared on this site over the years - Serbs and Montenegrins alike taking a moment to remind/educate readers that Serbs and Montenegrins are the same people. And yet, the matter can seemingly never be put to rest. Part of the problem is that some Serbs are a little suspicious about Montenegrin identity. Just the other day, I saw where a couple of our Serbian friends, Vaso and Ida, were discussing the likelihood that some Montenegrins were probably a mix of Serbian and Albanian ethnicity. I'd have to check, but maybe even Peggy was in agreement. One interesting part of that discussion was the seemingly inordinate number of Montenegrins in positions of power in Serbia since WWII. Ha! Just imagine if one day we were to discover that Montenegrins such as Milosevic, Karadzic (OK, a Bosnian politician, but under Sloba's control) and Stanisic were men with Albanian roots!

It is only a matter of time until Montenegro enters a union or confederation with Serbia again.

It can't sustain on its own

Its church is Serbian
Its language is Serbian
its alphabet is Serbian
its greatest poet and ruler njegos wrote that montenegrins are serbs

Its kids are sent to Belgrade because they have no university system
Its sick are sent to Serbian hospitals because they have no hospital system
They are bapised, married, and buried in Serbian Orthodox rites.

Most of their tourists are Serbs from Serbia

As Serbia continues to grow economically, more. and more of its educated young will go to Belgrade for employment.

As Albania expands its tourist capacities, Montenegro will no longer be poster child and will have stiff competitioncoming from brand new resorts on teh Albanina coast.

Fully 40% of people say they are outright Serbs and probably 20% say they arent because they were sick of the wars during the 90'snor was it popular to say so.

Its real esate is mostly in the hands of Russians who have a strong economic influence on its economy.

As its economic possibilities begin to evaporate, so too will the nationalistic intoxication

I am 75% Montenegrin.
