Serbia will do everything it can to make it clear to UNESCO members that allowing Kosovo to join this organization would be a harmful move.

Ummm..... Kosovo is disputed territory.

The Brussels discussions are intended to create a way to have relations even while the dispute continues.

In fact, they say that the dispute can continue.

You may not like it, but Belgrade has the right to dispute this.

I have said nothing controversial here. Just reporting the news.

what do you see

pre 8 godina

Maybe we should bomb the Serbs?
(factman, 1 August 2015 00:54
Hmmm, I see the Albanian led govt of Kosovo wanting to join a UN organization whose sole purpose is to promote PEACE through Education and Culture, and then I see a Serb who proposes war!

Makes sense

pre 8 godina

So you do admit that they are Serbian monasteries and churches then. In that case why is your lot trying to portray them as theirs?
(Peggy, 4 August 2015 06:04)
I see no movement to portray these as anything other than what they are except some here. I do not know the history, or care, I know in the 90's they did house Serbian religious leaders who blessed the rape and murder of human beings, thus I can understand the desire of Albanians to have them removed. But none of that really matters to whether Kosovo joins UNESCO other than recognition that they exist on Kosovo soil and not Serbia's, they will always be known as buildings of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
They are part of the total history of Kosovo unless you want to say otherwise, that should be the same whether you say Kosovo is a province or a Republic.
And no one in MY "lot" is portraying them as anything else.
The Serbian govt. applied to have them designated as UNESCO world heritage sites. The only difference membership in UNESCO would make is to move them from the "in Serbia" tab to "in Kosovo"
Contrary to popular belief there is no such thing as UNESCO protected sites.

That is the most idiotic statement you have ever made. There is no comparison possible between what has happened by Albanians in Kosovo, however a case can be made for the comparison of the Milosevic scourge on Albanians and the present ISIS scourge going around.
To Albanians the Serbian religious sites do not represent places of GOD as he abandoned them long before YOU decided that the life of Albanians were not worth anything.
Would you not want to erase that which is a constant reminder of the cruelty that your family received or the death of your father, brother, son or mother or sister, at the very same hands that were blessed in these sanctuaries of evil. That should be their legacy not the sanctimonious bs that flows from your computer.

Harmful to whom? Lets be realistic here, if Israel, with all the might of the US behind couldn't stop Palestine from becoming a UNESCO member, I take strong leave to doubt that Serbia can stop Kosovo from achieving such a thing.

Yes, makes sense. Kosovo Albanians did fine with destroying the few 'UNESCO designated or protected sites' - which unfortunately are the ancient Serbian monasteries and churches. You can compare that to ISIS, who deliberately destroy monuments of great historical value.

P.S: The oldest Kosovo cultural heritage, the Clinton statue in Pristina, will be of historical value in maybe 200 years (if it won't be destroyed by Albanian nationalist until then)

@Factman who is clueless:

Being a good neighbor means respecting International Borders.
(Kosova is over 92% indigenous Shqiptare who voted to be free of oppression.)

Being a good neighbor also means not trying to interfer in domestic or international relations or membership in UNESCO for example.

Apologizing and returning kidnapped murdered Kosovars would make for better neighorly relationship.

Compensating for Genocide,War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity to all victims is a good start.

Ending your disatrious Greater Serbia Campaign of Terror makes you a better neighbor automaticaly.

Acting like a civilized nation that does more than export regional instability and isn't the greatest threat to peace is a BIG win for Europe and all freedom loving people.

If you only knew the true facts and not so clueless you would beg to apologies to many former Yugoslav citizens that were victimized by that cave man mentality.

Have you no shame!?

Serbia's Human Rights Director can help De-Nazify you and many like yourself.

Is it not time for Serbia to move on since Kosova is Independent with 111 country recognitions and more to come?

Continued Serb Inat means the end of Kosovar -Serb talks at good neighborly relations and then the Belgrade to EU talks indefinitely postponed.

Politics in Serbia> Monitor news related to us from around the World, especially those news coming from international organizations, create reactions and publish in news papers, broadcast on tv, have our citizens under impression that this whole planet wants to take their country and leave them with nothing so they never figure out that is it us actually doing it.

He has to say something, would like to know why they have not abolished all institutions in Kosovo which they signed as far as i know in agreement there are no important or non important parts if they are there then there is importance ( Kosovo diplomas need to be accepted in Serbia) as per agreement and they are not.

He rushed to sign and now when the other party does not want to accept his version of interpretation then he talks of some crazy spirit. Contracts 101 u must right it or leave it for interpretation, he can not say this is what we want as its not writen what this comunaties rights are.
