Yes it will take long enough for someone to say "all in favor, say Aye, those opposed, say Nay, Ayes have it.

What comes next? The IS becoming an UNESCO member? Would make sense, since the ISIS fighter 'care' as much for the ancient historic cultural heritage in Syria as the Kosovo Albanians do with the cultural and religious heritage in their 'country' - i.e. destroying and vandalizing it.

No one that is currently a member of UNESCO was admitted because their history showed that they NEVER had religious sites destroyed or desecrated in their country. Most have at one point or other had state sanctioned destruction of religious sites usually of minority religions within their area.
The goal is to bring these people together to protect the cultural and religious heritage throughout the world. But Serbs would rather NOT have the Albanians to be brought into these actions, as it would end the ability to cry victim.
Hopefully one day all Muslims will respect Christian religion and culture and all Christians will respect Muslim religion and culture. But that will never happen IF YOU use your hatred to promote separation.
There are many non state members of UNESCO, so it should not be about status.
