If/when Serbia joins the EU, she will be pressured and used as thoroughly as possible to serve an agenda that is dead-set on destroying BRIC; if she doesn't comply she will be forced to comply by less savoury means. If she doesn't pursue EU membership, she will be targeted for similar reasons: pressure. She will be forced to betray her loyalties and her people will be even worse off than Greece.

It's never a good idea to hop on at the tail end of a pyramid scheme meant to centralise power, especially when it involves being forced to turn against your allies (subtly or directly); it's incredibly difficult to resist the urge, though.

" We all saw how Serb fans behaved at the match in Belgrade on Oct. 14,2014 against Albania. It was just Serbs being Serbs, showing the world on TV they are not civilized enough to be part of the EU."

As opposed to the fine upstanding behaviour in the UK, say, where hundreds of people have been trampled to death and an entire culture exists revolving around and glorifying football hooliganism?

So glad you brought up bad behaviour.

BTW, Frattini talking about this stuff is about as objective and trustworthy as Saakashvili (now, with added Ukraine power!) speaking ill of Russia.

Tell me please if you feel better after such comments. ? Or do you really believe that Serbs and Russians will change something because of you ? Should you read a single book about history you would know that these two peoples have no rear speed. Why not treat us in some other way ? Only morons can try to press on those who suffered the biggest combat losses in WW2.

How do you know that Russia invaded Ukraine ? For your information convoy N33 with new 120 long vehicle trucks delivered humanitarian aid to Donbass today. And it is the only invasion that Europe registers. Do you know that Europe is ready to grant Russia with Ukraine already ? Because to keep it up they will need hundreds of billions ! The problem is that this time Russia does not accept it free of charge … So stop your old songs and follow the French Parliamentarians visiting Crimea now.

Should we have a border with Serbia things would develop not that tragic. So stop it if you have any brains and don’t poison the forum. People here need peace but not new provokers poisoning the already poisoned air. Bullets ricochet you know and no milk will pour out of you as well. So stop it now as the confrontation is already too high. The farther you are from the battlefield the braver you are. Because it’s not your house will be set on fire and it will not your son will spend cold nights in the trenches.

The problem is the EU/Euro union itself; it is dysfunctional, non-democratic and a bureaucratic nightmare. Compare if all of MENA, from Morocco in the west to Iran in the east, was forced into a political union with a common currency, it would never work.

Serbia does not deserve to be a member of the EU. If Serbs want to be such great friends with Russia which invaded Ukraine and took over its territory, then Serbia should join Russia. Serbs should consider themselves lucky that they don't have a border with Russia, otherwise they would have been invaded and occupied while Tito was still around. Too bad that never happened. Serbs would then better understand the countries that are cursed to have a border with Russia.

Well, if the Serbs only arrived as barbarians in the 8th century and therefore should be kicked out, how about the Arab Musselmans who only arrived in the Mideast and North Africa in the seventh century, took over south Asia and southern Europe in the eighth, and central Asia in the ninth, not to mention the Turks, who took over (and ethnically cleaned) Anatolia in the 11th and Eastern and Central Europe over the succeeding six centuries? Would you kick them out, too?

If Serbia is pushed too much or made to choose between its future EU membership and keeping warm relations with Russia, it could bring the country on the brink of a catastrophe, as it happened in Ukraine," Frattini argued.

All the more reason to push Serbia! She is an accident waiting to happen. In some western countries if a building is in poor condition and is in danger of collapsing and injuring passersby, it is common practice to blow up the building with dynamite, under controlled conditions, so as not to injure passersby. For the same reason Serbia should be forced to implode.

About the "bridge between the EU and Russia" metaphor, what does that mean in practice? Flights will stop in Belgrade on their way to/from Moscow? Proposals from the EU will be first sent to Nikolic before Putin? Serbia will be an intermediary in, say, the Ukraine conflict? Putin and Merkel will meet and Nikolic will be there as a mediator?
Because, so far the special relations of Serbia with Russia, in practice, have only raised concerns for the EU :). And caused headaches for Serbia proper.

Great article, hope the US don't get involved Serbia is/has always been a much under rated country, despite of the Kosovo issue but with time the US will understand supporting terrorist was wrong, Kosovo belongs to Serbia and always will. The excuse of ethnic genocide was a LIE!! to the world only to make Serbia look like the aggressor, but read some recent events that have take place near Kosovo, in Kumanovo Macedonia by Albanian terrorist and you get a good understanding.

The Balkan country has strong historical ties with Russia and therefore it could act as the 'connecting bridge' between Moscow and Brussels. Serbia could become an example, where the ideas and moral values of both Russia and the EU could coexist and even thrive. That's why it's important for Brussels to work towards granting Serbia EU membership," Schulz told Euronews.

Strong historical ties? Of course u moron! Serbs are a nomadic barbaric tribe of Russia, only arriving to the Balkans in the 8th century, barbarically occupying Illyrian land! Maybe Italy should offer the Serb people a nice chunk of Italian land and call it Serbia and then from there they could be the bridge that connects Europe to Russia! In Illyrian lands that connection will be denied, period! I'm sure that the over 1 million Illyrians in Italy will completely agree!!!
