Indeed, and Dohány Street can count of a "Mangalica koca" being kosher.

If there is any American who I believe may consider his country to be a friend to Serbia it may be former U.S. Attorney General Ramsay Clarke. Why? It's because I believe I read online that he was representing or lending support for the late Slobodan Milosevic at his trial at The Hague Tribunal.Even if Mr Clarke had a job to do I can't say I support him for that.Incidentally I even believe that he was Saddam Hussein's attorney.

The past 25 years was an unfortunate interlude begun by an adventurous Clinton White House and State Delartment.
(factman, 4 July 2015 15:44)

Sure... the Clinton White House and State Delartment woke up one morning 25 years ago and since they had nothing to do for the day they started to throw a dice to decide which country to pick up a fight with and the "winner" was Serbia. It had nothing to do with the actions of angelic Serbia at that time!

Serbia can never trust the U.S. and would be better off if there was no U.S. Embassy in Serbia.
(ida, 4 July 2015 02:08)

Hopefully the majority of Serbs agrees with you. If Serbia had been an ally of US, the 1999 bombing would have never happened and Kosovo would still be under Serbia today. But luckily for Kosovo, Serbia followed your advice and went with Russia which is irrelevant in the Balkans.

America was always a friend of Serbia. What transpired over the past 25 years was an interlude of an adventurous Clinton White House and its State Dept. As career diplomats pass, retire, leave government, so too do their policies.

The disposition of American policy toward Serbia is evolving and changing each day in ways not seen in 25 years.

My country is a great country and sometimes it evolves to do what is right. Or it does it eventually over time. We are also a pragmatic people, who desire return on investment above all else and eventually drop underperforming positions (sometimes in the blink of an eye). The current policies have shown to have poor ROI both economically, politically, and geo-strategically.

America supported Serbia in its independence from the Ottomans. It supported it During WW1. During WW2 It supported the Royalist Chetnik forces where possible -- but only in conjunction with its primary goal of defeating Germany.

Finally, it supports the many millions of immigrants who have made this nation their home since the 1880's and have been patriots of this land which we proudly call home and love.

Happy Birthday USA!

The past 25 years was an unfortunate interlude begun by an adventurous Clinton White House and State Delartment. As career politicians pass, retire, and leave government, so too do their past policies go with them. This is natural political renewal and recycling of positions and policy and it is already underway.

My country is a great country. And great countries eventually do what is right. We are also a pragmatic people who invest where we will see a return on investment, not where things are headed toward dead ends and partial failures -- like the current policies.

The USA knows that a strong Serbia is one of the requirements for a healthy Balkans and it sees that beginning to emerge. And it is supporting it in ways it has not done in the past 25 years. This is slowly but surely becoming apparent to careful observers.

What Serbia should do now - while its opponents are weak - is contribute and lobby elements within and build on that momentum.

Happy July 4th. God bless America (and Serbia too!)

The Native American Indians said that "white man speaks with forked tongue" - the U.S. is the inheritor of those who cleansed and murdered off most of the native Americans, and they still make deals to break them at their end. The U.S. does not honor its treaties or own rules, but it will hold targeted others to them.
Serbia can never trust the U.S. and would be better off if there was no U.S. Embassy in Serbia.
Serbia is perpetually threatened by the U.S.

The U.S. was never Serbia's ally. The U.S. supported the communists over the Serbian royalists and the U.S. savagely bombed Serbian civilians and infrastructure in WWII to put Tito in power. Then Tito and his government proceeded to kill over 250,000 Serbs AFTER the war, according to Michael Lees, former British Intelligence Agent with access to British Intelligence files.

The Americans can't count. That's why they are over 19 trillion dollars in debt. Better advice could be got from the devil herself (soon to visit Belgrade on July 8)

On the 4th of July the United States of America will celebrate the UNILATERAL Declaration of Independence. The forming of a brand new country arisen out of tyranny, progressing to become the single most powerful country in the world.

America supports an independent Kosovo, may God Bless.

But he was just calling Serbs 'schizophrenic' a couple of months ago and explaining how paternalistic and helpful he has been to the people? Or maybe that's what he thinks friends say about one another (publicly no less)?

When he says "he is thankful for everything he has achieved in Serbia to his numerous friends and colleagues who are truly committed to Serbia's democratic and European future" what is it he believes he has actually 'achieved' by speaking the way he has been?

Insults and statements implying superiority, or suggesting he can teach people how to become more 'civilized' (mote in your own eye?) don't exactly inspire confidence.

If he wants to be a friend to Serbia, perhaps he should take a page from social structures here: friends treat friends with respect and dignity. I think that's what 'diplomats' are supposed to do anyway?
