Both sides shared a single calling code for generations. Only one side wants a new calling code. Both sides are not equal in this regard.
(Amnesty Yugoslavia, 26 June 2015 15:13)
Only one side wanted to end the oppression in Kosovo also!! Serbs were extremely content with keeping Kosovo and especially the Albanians as a subserveant class with Serbs as the masters. But the the world did not agree with that either.
Anyway your backwoods justice thinking really shows as you cannot separate the goals of a separate phone code with the resistence to allow one.
With the break up of Yugo, each entity received their own code so it is only natural with the last severance that Kosovo would want the same.
But it is just as idiotic to think that a calling code is going to establish any proof of separation just as much as you and your camp thinking that without a separate calling code firmly places Kosovo under Serbian control!

The majority of Yugoslavs were content to share the 38 calling code. The fuss was instigated by others and the quest for unique calling codes in the current negotiations is not a Serbian request. Please direct your comments to the individuals that table these idiocies.
(Amnesty Yugoslavia, 26 June 2015 15:04)

If that's your answer then your whole argument is nonsensical. One can't claim that arguing over an international code is irrational then defend one of the sides that is arguing over the international code. These two attitudes you have are mutually exclusive.Make up your mind.

When the people of KiM sit down to dinner tonight, I hope they can get their quota of calories and daily nutritional supplement by feeding their family and children a bowl full of international calling code.
(Amnesty Yugoslavia, 26 June 2015 06:00)
The first two paragraphs you wrote were wise and true, then you turn to your Serbian self, why do you aim this totally at the people of Kosovo. Is the arrogance of Serbia showing as it places just as high if not higher importance on this subject??
Of course with the size of the US and Canada using the same international calling code, I do not quite understand why the many countries of Europe must have their own.
But you are right of what consequence is it what number you call to reach someone in Kosovo, now they call the same as Monaco. The matter is equally as important to Serbs and Albanians, and the reasoning is quite ridiculous. Serbs feel that if Kosovo were to use the same calling code they have it establishes some type of power or control over Kosovo. Albanians feel that if they accept the same calling code as Serbia then they are submitting to some type of control from Serbs.
Neither is true and in the end it matters not to any person what numbers they use when dialing a phone. No one bases the question of independence of Kosovo as they dial that number.
You would have had an excellent post if you would have addressed both sides as equally foolish in this matter.

(resident of Fredericton,New Brunswick,Canada, 25 June 2015 19:24) in my country when it comes to the neighboring provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island they both utilize 902 as their area code where it doesn't seem to bother people or most people.

---
The issue is not area codes. It is international calling codes: You and all the residents of Nova scotia, PEI, as well as the other 8 provinces and two territories share the same calling code with the 50 states of the US. The international calling code is: 1.

The obsession with international calling codes in the Balkans is as stupid as the maniacal quest for newly designated languages, churches, revisionist histories etc. that typifies the insecurity and dysfunction in all of these jurisdictions.

I think that the population of KiM care more about jobs and economic opportunity than idiocies such as calling codes.
Ask anyone in North America whether they care sharing an international calling code and they'll look at you in bewilderment. That the EU and U.S. table and "mediate" such idiocies is shameful and shows their true intentions.

One thing is confusing, in one article you have Vucic speaking of the fact that there will be no discussion with the media about what has been agreed upon until it is finalized then you have another member of the government giving interviews on what the agreements are and of course no response from the other side as to whether is correct or not.
But I really do not know what the importance of this designation, of course Kosovo,Serbia would be out of the question, for if they were to do that then just get a calling code from Serbia. The * designation is of no consequence because who would ever really see it? But I doubt that will come to pass if it is indeed Austria that secures the code.
As far as Telekom, servicing as a legal agent in Kosovo, I think that has always been the issue, "legally" as they refused to get the permits in the past.

I can relate to your statement about some places in North America sharing a similar area code where folks don't seem to care about that so as an example in my country when it comes to the neighboring provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island they both utilize 902 as their area code where it doesn't seem to bother people or most people.

"We asked that it be 'Kosovo, Serbia' or 'Kosovo' without Serbia, but with a footnote that says it is a geographical code, and that the telephone number is practically given with the consent of Serbia"

Why not that:

Kosovo*

* This designation is without prejudice to position on status, and is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244/99 and the International Court of Justice Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence
