"When gas pipelines through the former Ukraine are turned off in a few years, Bulgaria will have zero supplies of gas for itself and an equal amount for export to Serbia."

The U.S. and its poodle the EU put Bulgaria and Serbia in energy/gas supply jeopardy by stopping South Stream.
Several years ago, in the middle of winter, Ukraine stopped transiting Russian gas over a price dispute. Serbia was hit the worst because it had no storage capacity at that time.
It was that which spurred Serbia to push through plans for the South Stream faster - unfortunately it wasn't built fast enough before the anti-Russian sanctions.
If Russia, Bulgaria and Serbia had only started immediately and worked quicker on that pipeline they may have been successful.

“The only non-Russian sources of gas from Bulgaria must come from Azerbaijan via Georgia”

Michael don’t worry about this pipe as they are lacking gas to fill it. Besides Azerbaijan is squeezed between Iran and Russia. To say nothing that this gas is EXPECTED only in 2021. By that time everything will be finished and “either Padishah will die or the mule”. Better pay attention to Turkey. Here’s the place of the main battle for the T. Stream. Last elections were a fiasco for Rejep Tajipovic. Even without such a defeat he had 3 Fridays every week. So now he is to become even more unpredictable and depending on the USA plus for the first time on the parliament too. Besides the opposition can quite form a government of their own. Out of 3 other parties in the parliament two old are US grant eaters while the new Kurdish is a big question. So the Stream may die in genesis. Greece is also under pressure yet it is a much more reliable chain than Macedonia and Serbia. So if the pipe reaches Greece one more option becomes real so Gazprom already has plans for Italy. In this case the pipe will come to Serbia and Macedonia via Hungary and Austria. This winter Balkans and Europe will have guaranteed problems with the Ukrainian transit. They simply do not buy gas for the winter as they are already bankrupts. If so Russia will have stronger positions and many American governments on Balkans may fall next spring. It’s a game and we shall see who will wink first.

With stories like this we need to join up the dots to try and see the big picture. Why does Serbia need a gas pipeline to Bulgaria, a country that has no gas? Currently Bulgaria buys Russian gas through the former Ukraine. It has no other source of gas. When gas pipelines through the former Ukraine are turned off in a few years, Bulgaria will have zero supplies of gas for itself and an equal amount for export to Serbia. The only non-Russian sources of gas from Bulgaria must come from Azerbaijan via Georgia and via a Black Sea pipeline. Talk of Arab gas is intended to distract the reader. Arab gas can only pass through Syria and it will be many years before that country is stable enough for such a major project. So there you have it, someone, let's call him Mr Rothschild, did a deal with the Azeris to supply gas to the EU, but first had to stop rival Russia gas from reaching his targeted EU customers, hence the South Stream sabotage. If Azeri gas does reach Europe it is likely to be expenses and insufficient to meet demand. But that won't bother Mr Rothschild who will have wrapped up another lucrative monopoly for his notorious family.
