Always funny to see that people think those state break ups can be 'orchestrated', against the will of the people living there. Sure, it can be sparked, and encouraged, but when the people are satisfied with their situation, nobody would do anything.

So I consider it normal when multi-ethnic states forcefully created and held together by a dictator (like Tito) where some ethnic group feels dominant and is preferred (by state jobs, political influence, whatever) and other are suppressed falls apart sooner or later.

It's immensely important for Serbia to accept invitations from whoever is commemorating WWII. Serbs had to sacrifice a lot of civilian lives to stop fascism. @LK Yes a defenisive war, it was Serbs of Croatia that fought for their own right, it was Serbs from Bosnia that fought for their own rights and both did not want to be part of a Croat and Bosnian state but be a part of a Yugoslav state or Serbian state. The Serbs of Serbia did not participate after 1991.. If the remaining Yugoslav forces did participate in the war they would prevent the break up of Yugoslavia..

Same language same people.. is no multi ethnic, or if you consider a saxon/austrian and bavarian to be a different ethnicity then yes.
The only difference is in religion and not accepting each other.
To have a better living standard in the Ottoman empire you had to be a muslim, for Austro-Hungary you had to be Catholic. Meaning many people converted so did Serbs.
Catholics in Bosnia are of many different ethnic backgrounds (German/Hungarian/Polish/Serbian/Slovak/Czech) Same for Croatia, but most are Serbian. The region Slavonia/Vojvodina are not called Rascia(alterenative name for serbia) for nothing back in the Austrian empire. The language Serbo-croatian is pure Serbian, in the 19th C Croats took the language for themselves, their own dialect is a Slovenian dialect(kajkavian).
The people of Bih/croatia/serbia/mne are most Serbs with a different religion but because of different political things that happened in the last 100 years people created their own views and ethnicity and here we are today divided and weak..

Yes, there was a SS.Skanderbeg from may - november, just 6 months. And to much Albanians deserted for this it was not effective and disintegrated.

I am sure that 2 nations in Europe do not have to prove anything about the Great Victory. Those are the Serbs/Montenegrins who suffered about 300 000 combat losses and the English (220 000).Formally the Americans lost 400 000 but mostly from the Japanese. Because the USA fought them for 40 months and only 10 months against the Europeans headed by Hitler. And of course the colonial in the Far East had nothing to do with WW2.I would say that the USA simply conducted 2 wars at the time. Japan was only a formal member of the Axis. And if I were to decide I would arrange a joint parade in Belgrade inviting brothers in arms from Russia, Montenegro, Britain and Greece. And I would definitely send marching troops and the veterans to Moscow and Minsk Parades. S/M people deserves it more than anyone on the continent because it was almost the only fighting people outside USSR and GB. With very few exceptions like Greece ,the 20 000 Albanians, some 130 000 of the Poles all the rest sucked severely the way they could. I never said Serbs were robbing Croatia, what I said was Yugoslavia lived on cheap money. When the money dried up, central government told the regions to stop spending money, the regions told central government to shove it and started to make noises about splitting
( and here is the rise of nationalism from Croatia in particular). The leaders answer to this was to try and take away power and autonomy from the regions. This just made things worse. Basically each part of Yugoslavia knew there needed to be cutbacks but not for themselves

Are the individual countries better now than they were in Yugoslavia? No, but it is not always about that. Serbia would be better off if it had just let Kosovo split peacefully but it didnt allow that and for valid reasons which had nothing to do with finances

Albania itself wasn't really involved in WWII. Germany never had a hard on for controlling Albania. It was Serbia's collective responsibility to be the primary opposition to Nazi occupation in the Balkans.

As far as the Jews finding safe haven in Albania, you are right. Because Nazi Germany never occupied or fought with Albania, many Jews were given asylum. That is commendable. But the Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija did form their own SS unit (Skenderbeg) and were some of the most loyal Nazi puppets. In return, they were allowed to control Kosovo-Metohija, and move in tons of their relatives from Albania.

Yugoslavia fell apart because of money, plain and simple.
Yugoslavia lived on cheap loans from both USSR and Europe and America which Tito played off each other masterfully.

Without political support and finance there would be no means to do it whether people wanted to or not. Give people plenty of propaganda, false hope and encouragement many will choose to go thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
So yes, it was a plan by the west to do this and using the past spats it was very easy to incite people to do it all over again.

So we do not lie and we tell the truth even when it helps someone to go on demonizing us in everything. And it gives good results. Say every May Russians buy red flags and posters for their cars. This year most deficit are stickers with slogan ЗА РОДИНУ ! ЗА СТАЛИНА ! Those were words ( FOR MOTHERLAND ! FOR STALIN!) that our soldiers were dying with during their attacks. I too failed to find it so I took another sticker НА БЕРЛИН ! It was written on our tanks, howitzers ect. and it looks rather amusing on my German BMW-530 car. And of course I have st. The USA and the Brits backed by France and Poland made their best to send Hitler to Russia so the Pact was a diplomatic victory of the USSR that helped us gain another year before the war. Russia is one of the few states who gained no territories in accordance with the Pact. Ask Ukrainians, Poles , Romanians and the Baltic Fascists. As for Finland it was punished for joining Hitler but during WW2 they behaved good and so Stalin forgave them in a great degree. We have nothing to be ashamed for in the period you mention. If you know something please tell it to us.

The Soviet Union might have mobilized even 100 million to the army, if you wish, but the majority of the trucks that transported them to the front were provided by the US because the Soviet Union didn't have the industrial capacity to produce that many trucks. Albania itself wasn't really involved in WWII. Germany never had a hard on for controlling Albania. It was Serbia's collective responsibility to be the primary opposition to Nazi occupation in the Balkans.

As far as the Jews finding safe haven in Albania, you are right. Because Nazi Germany never occupied or fought with Albania, many Jews were given asylum. That is commendable. But the Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija did form their own SS unit (Skenderbeg) and were some of the most loyal Nazi puppets. In return, they were allowed to control Kosovo-Metohija, and move in tons of their relatives from Albania.

China also invited Serbia for WWII commemorations later this year. It's great that Serbia is recognized as a desired partner for remembering this period in history. It's only right

Yugoslavia fell apart because of money, plain and simple.
Yugoslavia lived on cheap loans from both USSR and Europe and America which Tito played off each other masterfully.
When the USSR came apart the money dried up and no one was willing to make cutbacks.
Its always easier to blame someone else so the country came apart. In some ways Serbia was not to blame. As the home of Belgrade, that is where the money was dished out from. Like a gold-digger girlfriend, why would Croatia want to stay in a union with Serbia when its wallet was empty and the EU was throwing money around.

Because the USA fought them for 40 months and only 10 months against the Europeans headed by Hitler. And of course the colonial in the Far East had nothing to do with WW2.I would say that the USA simply conducted 2 wars at the time. Japan was only a formal member of the Axis. They betrayed Hitler and their PM was even coming to Moscow in 1942. Thus Serbo/Montenegrin people has suffered second big combat losses after the USSR. So (like the Brits) they don't need to explain anything or take any excuse. And if I were to decide I would arrange a joint parade in Belgrade inviting brothers in arms from Russia, Montenegro, Britain and Greece. And I would definitely send marching troops and the veterans to Moscow and Minsk Parades. S/M people deserves it more than anyone on the continent because it was almost the only fighting people outside USSR and GB. With very few exceptions like Greece ,the 20 000 Albanians, some 130 000 of the Poles all the rest sucked severely the way they could. Same language same people.. is no multi ethnic, or if you consider a saxon/austrian and bavarian to be a different ethnicity then yes.
The only difference is in religion and not accepting each other.
To have a better living standard in the Ottoman empire you had to be a muslim, for Austro-Hungary you had to be Catholic. Meaning many people converted so did Serbs.
Catholics in Bosnia are of many different ethnic backgrounds (German/Hungarian/Polish/Serbian/Slovak/Czech) Same for Croatia, but most are Serbian. The region Slavonia/Vojvodina are not called Rascia(alterenative name for serbia) for nothing back in the Austrian empire. The language Serbo-croatian is pure Serbian, in the 19th C Croats took the language for themselves, their own dialect is a Slovenian dialect(kajkavian).
The people of Bih/croatia/serbia/mne are most Serbs with a different religion but because of different political things that happened in the last 100 years people created their own views and ethnicity and here we are today divided and weak..

Remember, a similar amount (some millions) of people in the Soviet union were killed in WW2 and perished because of Stalin's mass deportations, killings, ethnic cleansing and the famine inflicted by his politics.

1. Wars are not made with hands. If you are not militarily prepared and if you don't have any weapons to fight, you have no chance to resist, like it happened with Albanians.

Yes, there was a SS.Skanderbeg from may - november, just 6 months. And to much Albanians deserted for this it was not effective and disintegrated.

@LK Yes a defenisive war, it was Serbs of Croatia that fought for their own right, it was Serbs from Bosnia that fought for their own rights and both did not want to be part of a Croat and Bosnian state but be a part of a Yugoslav state or Serbian state. The Serbs of Serbia did not participate after 1991.. If the remaining Yugoslav forces did participate in the war they would prevent the break up of Yugoslavia..

Nationalism was involved too for sure and it was stirred up by the leaders of Croatia and Serbia in particular.
I never said Serbs were robbing Croatia, what I said was Yugoslavia lived on cheap money. When the money dried up, central government told the regions to stop spending money, the regions told central government to shove it and started to make noises about splitting
( and here is the rise of nationalism from Croatia in particular). The leaders answer to this was to try and take away power and autonomy from the regions. This just made things worse. Basically each part of Yugoslavia knew there needed to be cutbacks but not for themselves

Are the individual countries better now than they were in Yugoslavia? No, but it is not always about that. Serbia would be better off if it had just let Kosovo split peacefully but it didnt allow that and for valid reasons which had nothing to do with finances

Would they be better off if Yugoslavia stayed together? maybe, if leaders back then had made some hard choices back then instead of looking for scapegoats

Well, it's hard to blame the French for that because the facts speak for themselves. The Soviet Union might have mobilized even 100 million to the army, if you wish, but the majority of the trucks that transported them to the front were provided by the US because the Soviet Union didn't have the industrial capacity to produce that many trucks. Mobilization meant nothing if those mobilized could not be transported to the front!!!

You might spin it as you wish but ultimately it comes down to that famous saying "it's the economy, stupid"
