President "not optimistic" after talks with German FM

Asked whether the German minister "brought up the question of (Serbia's) recognition of Kosovo as a condition," the president stated he heard from Steinmeier that "there is no requirement concerning the recognition of Kosovo and Metohija which influences us not being able to open the chapters."

in other words: No EU membership for Serbia without recognizing Kosovo, Take it or leave it!

This is becoming a bit of a joke. first we must tell the EU that we will not betray our country just to join the EU , we need to get rid of Vucic , because he has destroyed our relations with Russia. he needs to go and kiss Putin's ass and ask for forgiveness.

Without prejudice...but I can not believe that the intellegence of any leader goes so low...not to really understand or not wanting to understand what is expected from them before joining the EU. Of course we are talking about Kosovo....The Serbian leaders are failing to see the wood for the trees....It is insane...

I can't find any comment by anyone who has recognized Kosovo independence that says Serbia could recognize Kosovo but still claim it in its constitution. Any time this is brought up its baffling! How can Serbia recognize Kosovo? The government can recognize on behalf of government or themselves but not the state? It's that what's going on? So if nikolic and vucic and dacic all got together and said or signed a statement that Kosovo is independent that that would count regardless that Serbia still claims Kosovo in its constitution?

They know it, they see it, and they have since day one.
But there are 3 issues in the way right now.
1. the big one they are not in a place yet where they can sell it to the people.
2. Because they have Serbian blood in their veins they have this innate predisposition to make the Albanians suffer in a state of limbo as long as possible.
3. They also know as soon as Kosovo has access to the ICJ they will most definitely file suit for war reparations.

What positive ever came from hostile Germany to any Slavic Eastern Orthodox Christian people? What positive ever came from hostile Roman Catholic Empire to any Slavic Eastern Orthodox Christian people? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what has been going on especially during the last one hundred years and getting worse by the day! I just don't understand why Serbia is waisting so much time and effort trying to please Satan while there are so many friendly non hostile countries and nations out there to interact with? Now since the 1990's Serbia is like a prisioner of a death camp, yea just like the ones back in the 1940's! The Roman Catholic Empire is draining every droop of our Slavic Christian Eastern Orthodox blood in Europe! Satan choking us with economic sanctions! How will Serbia continue to live like this? There is only one direction Serbia can go to survive and it is not the direction in which we are being headed. In my opinion especially since March 24, 1999 Serbia need not even look in the direction of Roman Catholic Empire or USA's International Community! How much more blood, tears, lost territories will it take that Serbia finally understands what direction it must take to survive? Are we going to permit that our dear Serbian children become the slaves to Satan? Dear Lord Crucified and Holy in Heaven please lift the heavy chains of wrath the Devil has put on Serbia, all we want is Liberty and Peace, nothing more and nothing less! Boze Pravde !!!

The Serbian people already recognize Kosovo independence. B92 and ipsos poll say 63% of Serbia recognize Kosovo independence. The election results eliminated all nationalist parties. Serbs train as border guards and customs agents at serbia/Kosovo border. its athletes compete agianst Kosovo in most sports.

It seems the message that Nikolic does not like is that the future of Serbia is strictly up to Serbia 100%. The same requirements given to Serbia are the same as any other country with the exception of the one big issue. That future does not include Kosovo in any way. Serbia is not being asked to give up Kosovo that was done in 1999. It is being asked to give up its imaginary claims on Kosovo, as no one envisions Serbia and Kosovo entering the EU as a single entity.
No agreements with the EU, no negotiations, no talks on the future in the EU with Serbia has INCLUDED the area known as Kosovo. Serbia has presented nothing to Brussels that INCLUDES Kosovo as a requirement. While you have 5 countries in the EU that has refused to recognize Kosovo as an independent country, none of those are saying that Serbia only in the EU with Kosovo.
The best Serbia can do is to say they will never recognize Kosovo as an independent country but they do recognize it as a UN protectorate outside of Serbian jurisdiction.
As far as the Greater Albania, you do not hear this from the Pristina institutions, maybe some individuals but no more than you hear of Greater Serbia aspirations. That is the rumor that Serbia should concern itself with putting away.
