Putin already knows the Future and "The Other Russia" !.

This future Russia will not come through His Opponents.

Russia is standing between two Shields -
The East with China and Japan and,
the West with EU and the US.

The Future Russia will come as a result of War against One of those Two Shields.
Putin has no other way to Chose.
None of those paths is desirable for Him but that is the Reality.

Putins Task is to Hold Russia and The Russian People togheter for their survival.
In A War against the East Russia can not survive,
against the West it Can.

If Russia dont take its stand for the Russians in Ukraine,
it would be Russias Turn next to be dintegrated as Yugoslavia.

Putin will have to inaugurate the Military Dictatorship in Russia in order for Russias holdinf togheter abd survival but,
of cause He will be seen as the Devil.

Tim, Russia DOES recognize the independence of all post Soviet republics (like the UK recognizes Canada). I can send you the addresses of the respective embassies if you like.

But if French Canadians started shelling Toronto and calling English Canadians "rats" and "subhumans" etc etc... I wonder if London/Washington would be indifferent?? I suspect they would intervene militarily in a massive and open way that would make Putin look like a tree hugger.

Furthermore, the real relationship between Canada and the UK is that both are in NATO and are not "independent" at all. They will never meaningfully diverge from the "party line" issued by the big brother of the English speaking family - Washington.

If you are suggesting then that "cousins" Russia, Ukraine Belarus be similarly independent states, but linked via the Eurasian Union / CSTO, then that is EXACTLY what Putin is working towards (he's even more "moderate" than that as he would accept neutrality for Ukraine.. would the US allow Canada to be a "neutral state" between China and itself??).

Here's the real bottom line, the English speaking world doesn't like the idea of the Russian speaking cousins "getting together" and will do whatever it can to foil things like the Eurasian Union which make total sense from an economic point of view, let alone cultural.

That's not very nice Tim, but as you indirectly suggest with your Canadian cousin analogy, ultimately it will not work.
