I don't know under what pretext Thaci could be arrested as he was only the political leader of the Albanians. On Wednesday, Thaci's deputy Petrit Selimi confirmed for the Beta agency that an NGO had invited Thaci to take part in a gathering in Belgrade on April 24, and that it was "the task of Serbian authorities to guarantee his safe stay."

The stance on EU was in favor of Thaci's visit.

I don't like Thaci myself but he is deputy prime minister of Kosovo with whom Serbia has sign countless agreements. Also as a political leader Thaci has the diplomatic immunity and can be arrested only from Hague not from Serbia.

The only thing Serbia can do is to say that they can not guaranty his safety, but still they are against the Brussels's agreement with Kosovo,because Kosovo may say the same for Vucic,Nikolic,Vulin and Dacic when they visit Kosovo.

Instead of working on integration into the EU over the next 3 years Serbia would be tied up in negotiations for his release. Kosovo would close the border for any Serb politician and the people would see that Belgrade is not there for them.
On the downside it would spark violence from both sides and probably have to have peacekeepers ordered to both sides of the border.
Thaci would be seen throughout the world as a political prisoner and his detainment would be stamped on every loan application that Serbia seeks.
It would level the playing field for Kosovo and Serbia.

Actually I do not think he should go as his presence will just antagonize and accomplish nothing but Serbia has drawn a line in the sand so we will have to see who will stand down in the interest of peace in the Balkans and EU integration.
