Finally, Europe is starting to wake up. Russian aggression has been apparent ever since Georgia 2008, but the European governments as well as the US Administration wanted to appease Moscow. Obama, the lame duck, even pushed the reset button and asked for a renewal of the Western-Russian relations, just as he tries with Iran and Cuba. But Putin is a war monger who has no will or intention for peace. The clerical-fascist cocktail which Putin and his cronies call "Russian world" is a sinister plan to subdue and destabilize Europe. It is time to make a hard stance just as the Nordic countries made. There will be peace with Russia only when it is broken in smaller, more manageable pieces, just as the Sovietunion.

Hmm, I like the way we can make this about the US and EU and Nato when it is really about a number of small neighbouring Scandinavian countries worried about the bully next door who keeps knocking on the door with flights of war planes along their borders designed to show Russian military superiority. All those who like bullies raise your hands.

You really think that?
So how is Russia showing any interest in these countries? Please let us know so that we too can understand.
Russia is only interested in their own people and territory, unline the US who used NATO to rip a country apart and then built a sizable base on the land they took.

you are right - we need some humor.
In that light - Russia is a threat. Look how close they put their country to NATO military bases!
Shame on them...

Now now.. Let's not get off the beaten track.. The Scandinavian countries should stop trying to deflect the attention away from its own social demise by using Russia as its scape goat for its failed multicultural policies, the next generation of Scandinavian will pay dearly for the current mobs arrogance, perhaps to the same extent that of the Yugoslavs suffered. The numbers and history speaks volumes... Hence stop lying to your own people.

Yes, sure the US forced Russia to invade and annex Crimea. And they forced Russia to send their soldiers for 'holidays' to eastern Ukraine, and they forced the Russian separatists to shut down MH17? Did I forget something?
(Questioner, 10 April 2015 20:02)

I don't know if you really meant what you said, or is it just to say something regardless of how stupid it is. For every action there's a reaction. If the terrorists did not overthrow a legitimate government in the Ukraine, would this have occurred? Second, what would the terrorists have done if Russia would've overthrown a Canadian government and annexed Quebec? Look at the terrorists panicking now. They want to court the Cubans after a 50 year embargo. Why? The biggest mistake in Russian history, and there were many, is when they trusted the terrorists that don't honour a single document they've signed, and abandoned their domination in Europe. The second, was when they abandoned the Serbs in Kosovo. Even though they were economically strapped, they are nevertheless a nuclear force not to be reckoned with. However, they had a drunk at the helm at that time and here we are today.

....The Russian aggression against the Ukraine and the illegal annexation of Crimea are violations of international law and other international agreements......

What a piece of duplicitous rubbish! What about Kosovo, wasn't international law violated there? US terrorism is worldwide, isn't that a violation of international law?
(ivan, 10 April 2015 14:39)

OK, so you're saying that (in addition to the US) Russia is wrong, too!

The US terrorists have caused the Russian situation to what it is
(ivan, 10 April 2015 14:39)

So, the US controls what happens to Russia?!

Mate, in just two sentences you made very unpatriotic statements in regards to Russia!!!
----------

Russia needs to re-exert itself as a superpower that it is.

And it's miserably failing. It's hard to think of a situation in decades where the international support for Russia's actions is as low as the international support for what Russia is doing in Ukraine.

Sure Russia and its expansionist politics are the biggest security thread in Europe. But for me it's clear that even Putin won't dare to attack or invade one of the Baltic countries, or Romania, or Poland, since they are NATO members, unlike Ukraine. The most likely nextx victim of Putin's 'politics' might be Moldova/Transnistria, where Russia is already financing ethnic separatists.

what is happening in Ukraine is because of the the pervertion of the euromajdan with discriminatory laws and policies to the russian speakers. Naturally, Russia reacted (Don't missunderstand me. Again, as usual, the western leaders commit a mistake. Even after the fall of the iron curtain, Russia has been treated like an enemy. The proof of that is the anti missile shield designed by Mr Bush. The other proof is the fact that both washington, Brussels, and Serbia's neighbours are forcing Serbia to move to the west, even when they have doubts about it. Nowadays, the most of the serbs feel sorry for what happened in the 90s in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo, but when it comes to the alignment, they are totally aware of their cultural and political links with Russia. Nowadays bridges are needed between the west and the east. Serbia can provide it, but the attitude of washington is exclusively oriented to break all the links, what can be seen in the policies of US with Serbia.
