Wahhabist, jew, atheist, whatever, he remains a Serbian citizen Serbia should always protect him! It's totally irrelevant how or why he ended up in Yemen....

It is VERY relvant what he was doing in Yemen. If he has joined IS then not only should Serbian government do nothing to help him but they should also make sure his passport is either cancelled or he end up in jail if he ever makes it to Serbia.
Western countries have announced the same measures for their citizens fighting with IS.
So yes it does matter why he was there.

The Serbian government has a duty to protect Serbian citizens living in Serbia. If Serbs get in trouble abroad all the Serbian embassy can do is offer some financial or political support. Serbia can't send its fleet to attack foreign countries; that role belongs exclusively to the Americans.

41 Americans stranded in Yemen filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against the State Department and Defense Department for not evacuating them.

The suit was filed on the plaintiffs' behalf by The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The American way ... probably seeking damages. lol
