The Fiat 500L is one of the least safest cars around according to the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Test showed that the structure of the Fiat 500L was being pushed into the driver’s survival space, “knocking the steering wheel back and to the right of the driver,” which puts the airbag out of position, meaning the dummy’s head slid off to the left side.'

“why especially cars (which make up the most of Serbia's export) were explicitely excluded from the great 'duty free access' deal … why Russia is the country Serbia has the greatest trade deficit with”

I can respond your both comic questions :

1/ Russia is the biggest after Germany car market in Europe so tax issue has always been sensitive. Biggest conflicts we had with Byelorussia that used the hole in our border to re-export cars from EU. But Russia finally put an end to it when Serbia had no FIATs yet. So your new ugly attempt to find contradictions between the two brothers whom you both hate will end as usual.

2/ As for the trade deficit with Russia I also have to disappoint you. Because 80-90% of our trade partners have trade deficit in our favor. All because of the structure of our exports composed of energy (gas, petrol, crude oil, coal, electricity) , armaments , metals, nuclear power stations ect. besides all our imports dropped in late 2014. So it’s very routine and there’s nothing anti-Serbian in the status quo. Also the full-stop of the SS played negative role. So find some other proof of the cunning Russian monster to plan plots against our last ally on Balkans.

Of course it is good. But you should ask yourself why especially cars (which make up the most of Serbia's export) were explicitely excluded from the great 'duty free access' deal, and why they might be included only now (within a contingent, of course).

And you must ask why Russia is the country Serbia has the greatest trade deficit with, i.e. it is importing a lot more from than it is exporting to. Let's say 10.000 cars, estimated price $15.000, make up 150 millions, which is a small amount of the trade deficit of a billion or so.

I partly agree because FIAT gained not much reputation in this country. Even the famous FIAT 124 that became known here as Lada was 17 times redesigned under the demands of the Soviets. Besides prices for the FIATS available are comparatively high. Even though some of them are made in Russia. So the Serbia made low segment cars at appropriate prices may quite be successful. Especially now that rouble is fast regaining it positions against both dollar and euro.

Russia is making Serbia poorer and poorer just like Serb politicans whats new. One step forward then two back. (Lenard, 9 April 2015 19:29)

I enjoy each time you worry about Serbs and Serbia. Please don’t stop it.

This was something Putin promised during his visit to Serbia last Fall. It has nothing to do with Serbian soldiers marching in the parade.
It just takes a while for these things to get in place.

And that's part of the problem with the Free Trade Agreement with Russia - Serbia is being too slow at getting these deals going and Russia is not pro-actively searching for them: it has to be requested by Serbia. So that is why the ball is continually in Serbia's court and therefore it must make effort to continually find, implement and boost more trade deals with Russia.

Soo true, Russia has not been of any economic benefit to Serbia at all, not even political benefit since Kosovo is already a de facto state and Russia didn't help much in that regard. Russia is extremely useless to Serbia yet I don't see why Vucic and Nikolic can't just dump them forever, they seem to keep licking their shoes every now and then. (Ari Gold, 9 April 2015 13:02)

Well, 10.000? How many 100.000 cars does Fiat Kragujevac exports at all? And I don't know if it's a an reward for sending soldiers, maybe it should be seen as a small compensation from Russia for Serbia for the scrapped South Stream project? You know, Serbia was so 'smart' to sell NIS (including domestic gas resources wourth some billion $) for peanuts to Gazprom, hoping for South Stream, but it was ripped off by Russia because the deals have been 'not connected', i.e. Gazprom got NIS, Serbia didn't get SouthStream - and no compensation.

What's certain is this gives Fiat a competitive advantage having such easy access to the Russian market.
