Literally going out in a blaze of glory - if you consider an audience of 200 or so nationalist pigs sufficient to raise Seselj to the level of glory.

Outrageous publicity stunts are all he has at this point - he'll probably be dead soon and will likely die while back in detention. Then he'll be sent home in the cargo hold of a commercial plane to be buried in his back yard, just like his idol Sloba.

Not needed and not good for the country as a whole. These ridiculous flag burning ceremonies only bring light to a man who should be sitting quietly in the dark and healing himself. I can understand his state of mind since he's been in detention at the Hague for almost 12 years without a verdict. He must be angry and filled with resentment towards everyone. Afterall, he didn't have any back up from the country. But burning flags! Just stop it and get a damn blog. We don't need anymore negative activity in Serbia. Time to move on and focus on people working and living a decent life for once.

Wow, look at everyone getting their knickers in a knot. Seselj is basically expressing his dissatisfacton with the way Croatia has been treating him, by burning its flag. Big deal! Albanians here have no problem with bombing buses, killing innocent women and children, organ trafficking and destroying churches but think it's a war crime to burn a flag.

The simple fact is, when Croatians or Albanians or Bosnian Muslims commit a crime against Serbs, it generally goes unpunished.

One day I believe Balkans deserve to get rid of people like this, when we can break with past and speak in present not live with historical battles we will be better.

I think if you reread the article or read it for the first time, you will see it is your own court system in Serbia that wants to issue proceedings against him not the Hague.

This is another example of how primitive Seselj and his supporters are. Throughout the 90's the Serbs committed the most atrocious acts of violence, rape and torture which has still gone unpunished. Guys like Seselj, Mladic and co are treated as heroes.It is sick. Many Serbs want a new way, to follow a european path of prosperity, cooperation and peace with its neighbours. Unfortunately there are too many nationalistic thugs like Seselj who share a blood thirsty warped out view of greater serbia, living in the dark ages and hanging on to mother russia like a souless child. Flag burning has been recognized as a form of free speech in many jurisdictions. Even in the US, flag burning is protected by the first amendment according to a landmark 1969 US supreme court decision. Will be interesting to follow the arguments and trials in Serbia.

During the war in Croatia in the early 1990s the BBC aired a documentary showing how, during ceasefires, the Croats would send foreign mercenaries (often British) behind Serb lines at night with instructions to fire back at their own side so that the Serbs could be blamed for breaking the truce.

I wonder if Šešelj underwent training in the same place as them given his gift for worsening Serbia's already undeservedly fragile reputation.

I don't know if he's as guilty as the Hague prosecutors think - probably not given how long they kept him there - but in the Court of Human Folly he ranks with the greatest of fools.

How on earth does something like this become a topic of such robust conversation?

Yeah, and we have many issues with you too. As for Knin, some of my distant relations came from there - in a tiny hamlet/village named - Plavno. Hundreds of years ago, before there was any Croats there, they built an orthodox church on that hill called St. George, named after our patron saint - the patron saint of the Drobnjaks. The population there and in Knin, which was majority Serbian, has all but been eradicated by your proud nation. Croatia will never fully be democratic or tolerant, regardless of it being a EU bumper sticker and NATO boot licking servant, until it returns the constitution prior to 1991, and returns the constituent status to Serbs there too. Maybe those 6 that Serbo-Montenegrin partisan army captured in the Adriatic in 1943 ? Croats were as monolith as the Serbs during WW2 but they fought on the other side. There are thousands of Croat graves near Stalingrad and not a single Serbian. Yes Tito was half Croat but everything else in your comment smells with heavy drugs. Serbs saved you from Nurnberg Tribunal as well as the Russians saved the Poles and the US saved France. Chetniks’ story is not so simple under the angle of the mentioned civil war where Germans always added fuel. Chetniks were the first to rebel against Hitler on the European soil. What happened later is a sad story of the civil war inside the Serbs. It will never justify the cruelties of the Ustashas. In vain you mud the Italians too because their fascism was the lest cruel. During Mussolini (1922-1943) in Italy only 9 persons were executed and there was no Holocaust here. They lost all the wars they took part in because they can make only pizza and dream of the never existed Roman Empire. But they do not come here to say that they were not fascists like you do.

They seized what is known as Turkey now and colonized the middle east. What you say is partly correct when the Ottomans introduced Islam as their new religion and under Suleiman Qanuni came back to the Balkans and it was the most progressive state in the world. They changed for worse only in the 18 century but it’s another story.

The radio controller for the Balkan Theatre at the allied HQ in Cairo was a soviet spy. He deliberately misled allied (British) intelligence staff of the true FACTS on the ground, this resulted in the transfer of support from the Chetniks to the Partisans. This upset the allied liaison troops on the ground in Yugoslavia. It was a Tito and Stalin ploy that worked and yielded results.

One of the biggest indicators of 'dumb ass' syndrome is the inability to recognise, accept, admit to the crimes of your own ethnic group.

During the war in Croatia in the early 1990s the BBC aired a documentary showing how, during ceasefires, the Croats would send foreign mercenaries (often British) behind Serb lines at night with instructions to fire back at their own side so that the Serbs could be blamed for breaking the truce.

I wonder if Šešelj underwent training in the same place as them given his gift for worsening Serbia's already undeservedly fragile reputation.

I don't know if he's as guilty as the Hague prosecutors think - probably not given how long they kept him there - but in the Court of Human Folly he ranks with the greatest of fools.

Yeah, and we have many issues with you too. As for Knin, some of my distant relations came from there - in a tiny hamlet/village named - Plavno. Hundreds of years ago, before there was any Croats there, they built an orthodox church on that hill called St. George, named after our patron saint - the patron saint of the Drobnjaks. The population there and in Knin, which was majority Serbian, has all but been eradicated by your proud nation. Croatia will never fully be democratic or tolerant, regardless of it being a EU bumper sticker and NATO boot licking servant, until it returns the constitution prior to 1991, and returns the constituent status to Serbs there too. Allows for the right of return and return of confiscated properties, to name but a few.

Maybe this is not the best way to express his unhappiness about the Croatian state, however calling this a crime and ignoring the atrocities that were committed by Croatian's under the that flag is a bigger crime. But of coarse that goes unpunished or unheard of because the Vatican is behind it all, the Seat of the DEVIL himself. Everything has been given to the Croatians Illegaly and all their crimes have been hushed under the carpet. With such politics and actions being supported by both the Vatican and the EU, it is no place for Serbia or its people to stand side by side with such monsters inside the EU. What you say is partly correct when the Ottomans introduced Islam as their new religion and under Suleiman Qanuni came back to the Balkans and it was the most progressive state in the world. During WW2 Hitler instigated civil wars in all the occupied countries including some of the regions of the glorious USSR. Same was in Yugoslavia but what you say sounds as strange as my comments about good Ottomans. Unlike you I can prove things. Where do you take the figures and how dare you to say that Croats fought on our side ? What Italian divisions are you talking about ? Maybe those 6 that Serbo-Montenegrin partisan army captured in the Adriatic in 1943 ? Croats were as monolith as the Serbs during WW2 but they fought on the other side. There are thousands of Croat graves near Stalingrad and not a single Serbian. Yes Tito was half Croat but everything else in your comment smells with heavy drugs. Serbs saved you from Nurnberg Tribunal as well as the Russians saved the Poles and the US saved France. Chetniks’ story is not so simple under the angle of the mentioned civil war where Germans always added fuel. Chetniks were the first to rebel against Hitler on the European soil. What happened later is a sad story of the civil war inside the Serbs. It will never justify the cruelties of the Ustashas. In vain you mud the Italians too because their fascism was the lest cruel. During Mussolini (1922-1943) in Italy only 9 persons were executed and there was no Holocaust here. Forgive me if this appears to be ridiculing you, as over the years I have met many 'volunteers' and to be frank, it does get tiresome.
Seselj, like many paramilitary leaders put personal gain first. Serbia is the rallying cry in order to legitimise their endeavour and usually young impressionable people flock to the banner. Invariably it ends in tears.
Protecting your home is one thing (as did my sons 'Kum' from Sarajevo), jumping on a bus dressed in faded fatigues annd sporting a Bandana to join some half bake and his private army is another.

Interesting logic. You stand accused for, basically, crime of speech because of someone powerful's dark political motifs and need for expediency; you spend more than a decade behind bars without a verdict.
You sprouted from the ancestry that's originally from somewhere where, merely 7 decades ago, it was exposed to becoming a victim of one of the most heinous Nazi genocides ever seen under the Sun. Nobody has ever admitted, let alone apologized or, Heaven forbid, asked for forgiveness for it.

Albanians fought in the Kosovo battle (on which commander's side, then?), Croats being inherently "democratic" nation (including gifting the Serbs their own communist dictator in 1945, wandering in the historical wilderness from fascism, via extreme servitude, e.g. to Austria-Hungary to communism - all in the same sentence; but hey, there were always a few hundred Croats against it), etc. etc. Gee, one would even think they're simply trolling.

There are millions of us who support you in the United States against the Utaste Croatian government. They have never paid for their crimes against humanity including the hundreds of thousands of Serbian, Jewish and Roma people who died in their Utaste concentration camps.
