Poland blames Russian flight controllers for 2010 crash

Poland has charged two Russian flight controllers with contributing to the 2010 plane crash that killed Poland's President Lech Kaczynsk and 95 others.

Ridiculous. Either the airport is closed, which it wasn't, or it is up to the flightcrew to decide whether to attempt landing or divert. Other flights diverted not to mention the head of the Polish airforce was in the cabin at the time. Go figure!

This puts Poland up with France for politicizing investigations in to air crashes. What this means is that pilots will be even less likely to report mistakes and near misses and is bad for air safety all around.
