"This is a long standing problem in the area, with Serbs claiming that Albanians who never previously lived in the neighborhood wished to build their homes there in order to change its ethnic structure. "

Sorry, but since when "previously living in the neighborhood" is a criteria for building in privately owned land or purchasing a house from a house owner?!!! The nonsense that these guys come up with is really astonishing :)

No wonder the number of Serbs declines in Kosovo because according to these guys' logic, Serbs who have never lived in Kosovo can't build or purchase a house there.

Albanians stole this land. It is about time the Serb government took a stand like the Russians did and send these creatures back to Albania to rot in their misery

"This is a long standing problem in the area, with Serbs claiming that Albanians who never previously lived in the neighborhood wished to build their homes there"

What the article fails to mention ‘conveniently’ is: the land in which the houses are being build are owned by Albanians.
And yet they are being stoned by Serbs for building houses on their own land.
Imagine the reaction on this webpage, if Serbs were being stoned for building houses in South Serbia areas dominated by Albanians.

What the article does happen to mention is that there is a strict claim that those who wish to build, had never lived there before.
DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTICLE:
"This is a long standing problem in the area, with Serbs claiming that Albanians who never previously lived in the neighborhood wished to build their homes there in order to change its ethnic structure. "
This then does address your concern: there is no need to mention it because these people didn't live there previously, not their land, as you claim.
now, perhaps it is all the media, and they're wrong, and you, some random dude, in some random location, with a variety of random experiences knows better than those paid to know. perhaps that might be a theory of conspiracies.
but what it is not is missing what you claim it is.

Why should we throw good money after bad. There are far more Albanians in Kosovo and their diaspora is much wealthier and more commited than we are.

I wonder how much land in Kosovo rightfully belongs to Serbs that Albanians stole? I also wonder how many Albanians houses have been looted and torched as happens with Serbs.

No true, moderate "Serb". Their diaspora is not wealthier in the slightest. More committed? Perhaps. Still, I thought northern Kosovo-Metohija was under Pristina occupation. That's what "brian" has us believing

What the article doesn't mention is that the land belongs to the Albanians. On this same land that they own, they used to have houses which they lived in before the war. The houses were burned or bombed during the war and now the Albanians are back to rebuild their properties. All the Serbians have gotten their 'permits' to rebuild their houses, and they rebuild them beautifully (from what I could tell from TV footage) but the Albanians are not permitted to rebuild their own homes on their own land? And another fact that the article doesn't mention is that it wasn't the police or the municipality that stopped the rebuilding process, but some dumb hooligan villagers with 8th grade education throwing rocks at the construction workers and their equipment.

Its all about changing the "demographics," by circumventing the legal channels. I urge all Serbs in the diaspora, invest in land and properties in KiM in Serb-areas. Long term.
(Dragan, Toronto, 20 March 2015 14:13)

Why not please do this will benefit the people and actually non of this crazy stuff will be going in Balkans if economy would get better. Look Franc and Germany had more fights and killings and they are fine.

Rakic explained that the Albanians who started building in Brdjani today did not obtain appropriate permits from the municipality and were in violation of regulations.

Now I get it. It is not because who the land belongs to, but the building permit!!!???
It is so obvious that the said K-Albanians are the rightful owners of the land, but north mitro municipality does not want to issue permits, right?
