If or when the abductors are prosecuted and in the event of a guilty verdict what is the maximum penalty under Serbian law for child abductions? Also since the abductors are reported to being French nationals and because Serbia is a foreign country to them might they actually expect preferential treatment from the law and even the French embassy or high commision to intervene on their behalf all because they're foreigners in Serbia? You don't have to be an expert to figure out that when you "step foot" in a foreign country that you are subject to that country's legal system and in this case if the French embassy or high commision get involved that the least they can do for these French nationals is to ensure that they are not being maltreated by authorities on the basis of nationality (as an example) but they can't instruct or demand Serb authorities to release them from custody for being non-Serb.Think about it since France & Serbia are foreign countries to one another that therefore they can't interfere with each others' judicial system.Enough said.
