Six companies bid to manage steel plant

A total of seven companies applied to manage public enterprise Zelezara Smederevo, but only six of them sent their official bids for a contract.

"The team will manage Zelezara until the end of the privatization process. In case the next privatization tender fails like the last one, the steelworks will file for bankruptcy."

Why wait? This has already been dragging on for years, there have already been 4 failed attempts to sell this place, the government even tried to give it away for $1 to the russians. If this was a viable enterprise, then someone would have bought it by now, or it would be able to make a profit on it's own.

Zelezara has been nothing but a multi-million dollar drain on the serb economy. Time to take it out behind the barn with a shotgun, and put it out of it's misery.

Make sure there are clauses in the privatization scheme: severe penalties will be imposed, assets seized and massive lawsuits, if any company bails out and screws the people and plant again (and it will happen again) Its obvious that these Public-Private privatization schemes don't work, are rife for corporate fraud, and the foolish games (ie. closures, no severance and stealing by the companies from the host country) are very expensive.
