Returned to Russia? In fact, Crimea was stolen from the original inhabitants who even have the 'Crimea' in their name. After these persons were killed or deported to Sibiria, Russian immigrants started to populate Crimea. So much about 'Russian property'. Futher more, what would you say, rote, if Poland would claim back all the land stolen by the USSR?

Hey Yard I am sorry for being so naïve to explain 2 things only :

1/ Why Crimea is so important for the Russians.
2/ How came that Suleiman with his super army stopped in Vienna and Budapest

No problem mate; no need to be sorry. Not many people would care about the explanation or either (1) or (2). They do not bring food to anybody's dining table!

In 16-17th centuries Russia held 12 wars against Crimea whose Khans were vassals of the Ottomans. Those were very devastating wars for Russia when 10% of the state budget were always planned to buy back the civilian prisoners. Robbery was the main income of the Crimean Khans and they attacked not only Russia but Bassarabia, Romania and Caucasus. Twice Moscow was burnt. The end to it was put in the greatest battle of the medieval times that took place in 1972 near Moscow. 80% of the adult men of Crimea ( including the appointed Murzas to rule Russia ) were buried here after the Battle of Molodi.

http://www.b92.net/eng/news/comments.php?nav_id=93413

This battle is not mentioned anywhere though it has changed the history of Europe forever saving the continent from further colonization by the Ottomans. It was the time of the Reformation when united Europe fought Russia in the Livonian War. Ottomans as the former ally of Russia had never fought Russia. Besides they were busy with colonization of Europe. But after Ivan-IV Grozny seized Kazan and Astrakhan in 1552 things changed and Suleiman Qanuni (Significant) sent the Crimeans to help the Muslims launching chains of wars. In 1972 he was able to enforce the Khan with his terrible Janissaries but it didn’t help. After the catastrophe near Molodi Suleiman was no longer able to further colonization of Europe while Crimeans stopped to play any role in politics.

Probably not.

Here's what I think is going on:

The problem of Russia is certainly not lack of land, rather utter mismanagement. The Russian economy is in crisis due to the fall in oil prices. At the same time, due to the Ukraine war, Russia is being threatened out of the SWIFT system, which would be devastating. There is also a demographic crisis, with a fertility rate of 1.5-1.6.

In other words, Russia has serious problems, and there is no easy fix. In the US, there is the elections show every 4 years, where people at least get the illusion of choosing a new government. In Russia, event the illusion of elections is not quite tolerated, so Mr Putin owns the whole mess. He has to deflect his peoples' attention.

So he created a little war. Nothing like a little war to get all the adult morons, teenage cannon fodder, and paid spies, red orchestras and such, to rally round the flag.

Lol, so much non sense in just three sentences. Who did steal Ukraine, Moldova, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan, mate? The Ukrainians, Moldovs, Byelorussians and Kazakhs? And, btw, does it matter what the populations of those countries think? Also, Russia is not "focusing" at all on Ukraine because the Kremlin says that Russia is not involved in Ukraine. Whom should we believe, you or the Kremlin?! And what will Russia do with that land if it were to get it back? Russia can't even sufficiently populate the land it already has lol

Crimea has been part of the Russian nation for hundreds of years since Catherine the Great took it from Turkey.(The Crimean tartar s used to carry on a slave trade there.) But it was assigned to the ukraine SSR, in the mid-nineteen hundreds when a canal to supply water was being built.i.e. a 'part'of ukraine SSR for 30-40 years. Nikolai Khruschev''s son Sergei, a US citizen, lays the blame with Mr Yeltsin at the time of the break-up. Crimea has been a part of the Russian nation for hundreds of years.

Why does it worry you so much ? Do you love the Crimeans more than the Russian do ? Or do you know it better what is good for them than the Crimeans themselves ? Or do you think that 96% support of the comeback is not enough ? Please stop to expose yourself as a prospectless clown. I saw several comments of yours that looked quite reasonable. So you still have a chance to be back to the reality. Start to look into the mirror.

Russia will return all the stolen lands and Ukraine is the first to be back. Next will come Moldova , Byelorussia and Kazakhstan. But for the time being Russia focuses on Ukraine. As you know we have contradictions with the USA and their European vassals. Meanwhile in Ukraine we face not contradictions but total antagonism. So whatever we say we mean coming to our natural borders with Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Romania. No Minsk-2 or Minsk-3 will stop the war.

Russian experts say that only a final combat victory of one of the sides can bring peace. But we cannot afford destroy the Nazi right now as we'll loose Europe then. In parallel we are to tear Europe away from the USA so we have to destroy Ukraine with non combat tools. Most Russians expect the battle for Ukraine to be resumed in late April because war is the only mood the Nazi regime can exist. After Ukraine we shall discuss our European problems as good neighbors do.

Don't worry mate; we're not taking an history exam here. Not sure many people would care whether it was 1972, 1572, 1072 or 342072 BC :) It does not bring food to anybody's dining table.
