“Milan Atelevic, Milisav Djuric, Zivojin Dobricic, Dragica Ilincic, Stanislav Kolarevic, Dragoljub Lazic, Milisav Lukic, Dragica Milosavljevic, Milos Milikic, Jovo Miskovic, Branko Nikolic, Velimir Ostojic, Jovan Radovanovic, Milan Runjic, Zarko Tesic, and Jordan Filipovic.”

It was very sentimental of B92 to give the whole list of the awarded ! Each one deserves it as well as thousands of those who led that heavy partisan war with no rules. Yesterday Russian veterans were also awarded with the same medal. We have two types of medals – combat and anniversary ones. Before May 1944 the two Yugoslavian partisan armies were the only real brothers-in-arms of ours on the continent. All other “how I won the war stories” were written after WW2 and written with ink but not with blood like the partisans did.

Serbs always give a too conservative estimate of their own tribute to WW1 and especially to WW2. A strategic mistake is made about the Cetniks. Because in every occupied state there were elements of civil wars sponsored by the Nazi and Yugoslavia was not an exclusion. No one doubts the value of the great Communist army of Tito but initially Mikhailovic had a bigger force and he was the first to rebel in Europe when all the rest kissed Hitler’s ass. So I would prefer some Cetnik veterans to be included to the list of the awarded. Altogether Serbs/Montenegrins and Co have suffered second big (after the USSR) combat losses in WW2.
