Kosovo was split from Serbia by US/NATO military force and became independent, so WHY not Novorossyia?
(Leonidas, 13 February 2015 18:18)

Because of Serbia's principled position... You don't agree with Serbia's arguments?
(icj1, 16 February 2015 03:46)

No it was because Slobo cared more about his state power than the freedom and the Serbian territories all over Yugoslavia.

The ceasefile won't last as the US (especially war mongers McCain and Biden) doesn't want it to last and will do whatever to add wood to the fire.
(The voice of Reason, 14 February 2015 20:47)

For what reason? You who are the voice of reason can perhaps explain it:)

Sanctions are destroying Russia, that is clear by the way Putin is reacting. e.g. He has seen the ruble crumble by 50% as has the price of oil. Notice, in the last month or so he has suddenly stopped threatening Europe to cut the supply of gas. The lines in Russian supermarkets grow longer as food becomes less available in Russia. Putin is having trouble sleeping as his thoughts of Ceausescu's demise give him nightmares. Even the gold he is accumulating, to counter inflation, is dropping in value, causing Russia's coffers to shrink day by day. It is very satisfying to watch as Vlad is about to score his third autogol.

McCain is right. There is almost nobody from each side who would disagree. Only our appeasement politicians in West-Europa claim differently.

@josip;

Cluster bombs were deployed around civilian populations in Nis in 1999. A blatant war crime committed by NATO forces for which nobody was ever prosecuted. The attack on the commuter train on that bridge, and the bombing raids on Surdulica were all war crimes. In fact countless terror bombing sorties over Serbia in 1999 could easily under 'international law' be construed as war crimes. But you and I both know the 'Empire' acts with impunity. As for Ukraine, the US knows Russia will not back down over what it perceives as its vital interests. Just as the Americans refused to back down over Cuba. McCain is merely a manifestation of US militarism, warmongering and hegemony, albeit of a more pathological variety.

you are so boring, we all know that this deal doesnt stand a chance, and yes a big pig named Macinsain will fly, watch out not to fall on your head again like in Afganistan, Irak, Libya, Syria.... get a new life

I hope he is wrong as the poor Ukrainian and Russian people have already suffered so much as a result of Putin's militaristic policies. Also, there is no excuse for using cluster bombs and when used around civilian populations it should be prosecuted as a war crime.

U.S. Senator John McCain has said that the Ukraine ceasefire agreement from Minsk was "unenforceable and will not last a week."

I have to agree with the senator that the ceasefire won't last.Whether is one week or longer is immaterial. The war in Ukraine will continue until Ukraine splits up.The US/NATO/EU strategy has always been in promoting the destabilization and the breakup of Ukraine in order to achieve the NATO goal of moving into Ukrainian territory closer to Russia.

For the Poreshenko regime, losing was never an option and their nationalist outlook would not allow them to envisage anything other than a neo-nazi controlled Banderastan. Now that they have lost, what do they expect, the people of Donbass and Lugansk to say,"OK, guys, no hard feelings", and go back to the way the things were before? No one in Eastern Ukraine will trust Kiev regime again, who killed their loved ones and destroyed their lives' work, their houses and their livelihoods. So independence is really now the only acceptable and feasible way to go. Kosovo was split from Serbia by US/NATO military force and became independent, so WHY not Novorossyia?

Comment - Right !

I Quote -

He added that diplomatic efforts to achieve peace will not bear fruit unless the U.S. sends "defensive military assistance to Ukraine."

Comment - Your fruit will be that Russia will show you Ku-tz.

You will loose by pressuring Russia.

US involvement in Ukraine. Intentionally unreported in the USA?

The US House of Representatives with a sparse crowd (only 3 of 425 members present to vote) passed the Russia Sanctions bill HR 5859 “unanimously,” contains:

Provisions for privatization of Ukrainian infrastructure, electricity, oil, gas and renewables, with the help of the World Bank and USAID.

Fifty million dollars to assist in a corporate takeover of Ukraine’s oil and gas sectors. (Who is profiting from this in the US?)

Three hundred and fifty million dollars for military assistance to Ukraine, including anti-tank, anti-armor, optical, and guidance and control equipment, as well as drones.

Thirty million dollars for an intensive radio, television and Internet propaganda campaign throughout the countries of the former Soviet Union.

Twenty million dollars for “democratic organizing” in Ukraine.

Sixty million dollars, spent through groups like the National Endowment for Democracy, “to improve democratic governance, and transparency, accountability [and] rule of law” in Russia.
