Islamic State flag displayed in Bosnian village

There was no ISIS and very few Wahhabis in Bosnia before the war. The only reason there is an influence of extreme Islam is because of the war. Basically, Serbian extremists, not normal non-nationalistic Serbian people, but the nationalist militias who came to wage war, caused Islamic extremists to come to Bosnia to fight them. Then after the war was over, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states gave plenty of money to build new mosques, some with a foreign Salaffi/Wahhabi flavor that was new and different from the previous moderate Islam that is prevalent in Bosnia. This is just another lasting effect from the war in Bosnia.

By participating in civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina West created this entity and should be fully responsible for introduction of Islamic terrorists in the region.Republika Srpska as a autonomous component created by Dayton accord should stop participating in some functions of central Government until all traces of Islamic terrorists are eliminated.

Ya but what was the cause of the war? For me, it was the Bosnian Muslims using their first democratically held elections to elect Alija Izetbegovic, a criminal and radical Islamist. I say criminal because he was imprisoned during communism for expressing his extremist views and before that, he was a member of the Nazi SS Handzar. In prison he wrote the "Islamic Declaration", which you know, sounds really exciting for the 40-50% of the non-Christian minority (practically half the country).

Many of those they mention have Bosniak names, so they are locals who are radicalized. And some commenters here are ignorant that Alija Izetbegovic was seeking aid from radical Muslim groups years BEFORE the war, and that he and his clique of radical Islamists were jailed in 1983 for around 6 years for wanting to make BiH an Islamic state with Sharia law.

There WERE definitely radical Muslims in BiH before the war, but they were underground and biding their time. Alija Izetbegovic also said he would sacrifice peace to get his Islamic-ruled "independent" Bosnia.

IS is Islam as stated in their holy book. Plenty of verses there advocating exactly what they are doing. Read it or go onto Robert Spencer's website. Robert know the Koran a lot better than some Muslims do and he will tell you that IS is Islam in it's purest form.

No Ari, Fikret Abdic won the election to be president of the SDA but then resigned after asking Izetbegovic to promise that he would not start a war. The Bosnian Croats and Serbs trusted Abdic much more than Izetbegovic, but Izetbegovic made any deals that Abdic wanted to make almost impossible to implement, so Abdic gave up. The rest as they say, is history
