Aleksandar Vucic says it is possible to foster friendly relations with Russia and be a member of the EU at the same time, and that Serbia is "nobody's puppet."

I think in 2015 all those countries are republics. Its actually the western europe countries who are all still monarchies.
If I was serb i'd rather get close to hungary and austria and may be greece, because there are geosrategic reasons not history.
I guess that's the only choice if you don't want to submit to your good new friends who bombed you 15 years ago and destroyed your economy because they love you so much...

Tito was smart enough to keep YU out of the Warsaw pact. Well, maybe that was the problem. If he wouldn't have done that and Serbia would have had the opportunity to 'enjoy' to live under the heels of the Soviet Union for some decades like the former Warsaw pact countries in eastern Europe, people and politicians in Serbia would probably think and act different nowadays.

At least Serbia secured a few billion in loans from Russia and more coming. To a great extent we have an open market with Russia. Also, Russia is protecting Serbia's interest with regards to Kosovo.
