The newspaper's website claims today that it was "the American embassy in Pristina, not the government of Serbia, that prevented transforming Trepca into a public company."

Entirely believable. Nothing becomes official in Kosovo unless the real powers that control the region sanction it.

Your facts are funny

The truth is that Serbia has taken billions out of Kosovo through the mines over the years and returned very little of that wealth back to Kosovo, as a matter of fact it is Kosovo that has financially carried Serbia.

That's a new one if I ever heard it. Kosovo financially "carrying" anything is one of the most ridiculous things to infer since Kosovo was one of the poorest and most undeveloped areas of Yugoslavia, being a major recipient of reallocated funds from Slovenia, northern Croatia, and SAP Vojvodina. Trepca hasn't been able to turn a profit in decades. How much money has been dumped into Kosovo since the 1970s and yet indoor plumbing is still an option in some villages? Better yet, when did anyone voluntarily move to Kosovo because of economic advantages?

What else did you expect? Does anyone think that the 'Kosovo government' has any say when it comes to important decisions, when even the 'Kosovo president' was handpicked by the US ambassador himself bypassing Thaci's buddy?

Well I think we have learned something and cleared up some misconceptions and stated falsehoods.
For the last few years we have had person after person on here speak of how all of Yugoslavia and more specifically Serbia has carried Kosovo and that the Albanians owe everything financially to Serbs.
The truth is that Serbia has taken billions out of Kosovo through the mines over the years and returned very little of that wealth back to Kosovo, as a matter of fact it is Kosovo that has financially carried Serbia.
Instead of Kosovo being the Serbian Jerusalem or the heart of Serbian Orthodox religion, it turns out that it was actually the pocket book of Serbia.
