Freedom of speech is a complex issue.

But basically: Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas .

However: Any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence should be prohibited by law

So... people complaining that the french treat them unfairly, is fine. People marching to protest that the french treat them is acceptable (perhaps pre-agreement on timing with police is necessary if there might be traffic issues/counter marches).
People complaining the French treat them unfairly and advocating violence or terrorism against the French is clearly not an entitlement - they are breaking the law.

Therefore, Charlie Hebdo poking fun at Mohammed is clearly not inciting hatred (though possibly it could be interpreted of infirectly inciting religious discrimination if you had real good lawyers).
A person actively calling for terrorism is clearly and absolutely breaking the law and the French are entitled to arrest them.

So please... how can you accuse the French of Hypocrisy in this situation?

You should've written your grade-school playground "freedom of thinking- freedom of expression- human rights-equality" comment to the 50 that got arrested, or to the mayor that wouldn't allow a little Roma girl to be buried in one of your western cemeteries that he deemed reserved only for special people.

Most of the folks you are putting down need--first and foremost--money for their hard work cleaning your toilets and doing other thankless jobs for people like you my friend. Many of them come from poor countries that didn't get wealthy from colonizing and stealing from others by force and spilling innocent blood.

Let me guess. You agree with the freedom of thinking and expression of the Hitler-loving and worshiping Nazis from Croatia, the Baltic states, and now most recently with the Hitler-loving and worshiping Nazis from Kiev's Maidan, but not with Qaddafi's freedom of thinking and expression or Seselj's.

If you have the courage to search for truth in your own heart instead of mindlessly repeating, like a Mynah bird, platitudes that you really don't even understand, then mebbe your comments would have some value. Otherwise, they serve nothing more than making you think you sound important.

I hope you appreciate my poor man's way of thinking and my freedom of expression, and that we can respectfully agree to disagree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDggMvaV9gg

Ariely,

I'm sorry but your 1st point and 4th point are in direct conflict with each other with respect to freedom of speech.

I don't know how many Serbs read this English blog, but if there are any, I want to point out to them that the NATO-West don't care if you call them hypocrites. They will ignore your opinions and do whatever they want to do. If they want to declare war on Islam, then they may use "Free Speech" as a weapon. If NATO's opponents are too vocal and effective, then they will be imprisoned - Free Speech be damned.

If you don’t like the western values of freedom of thinking- freedom of expression- human rights- democracy- equality among all religions-:

Don’t immigrate to the west.

And if you already live in the west and you don't like it- don't try to impose your invading culture over the host countries.
You can always return to one of the 57 countries where the 7 century dogma is the main stream.

And if you want to enjoy the western culture –you better act and stop the hate preaching, teaching, terrorist recruiting and terror actions.

Unfortunately what in display on the Media by this group leaders and intellectuals are only justification of actions in the name of the 7 centurydogma.

I'm glad to see these "French citizens" are offered the same freedom of speech protection as the editors and cartoonists of Charlie Hebdo. NOT! Typical double standard western government reaction. Had the Chinese or Russian police made these arrests, the west would be crying foul claiming human rights violations.
