Texas Preacher - "Mebbe" God will teach you to spell this year, or MAYBE not, because it's all nonsense.

Good luck for 2015 in your medieval, superstitious bubble.

Thas awright. Jesus teaches us to meet people wherever they may be.

Over a hundred years ago a university student was sitting in a train next to an old man, seemingly a well-to-do peasant, who was praying the rosary and moving the beads in his fingers.
"Sir, do you still believe in such outdated things?" asked the student of the man.
"Yes I do. Do you not?" asked the man.
The student burst out into laughter and said, "I do not believe in such silly things. Take my advice. Throw the rosary out the window, and learn what science has to say about it."
"Science? I do not understand this science. Perhaps you can explain it to me" the man said humbly with tears in his eyes.
The student saw that the man was deeply moved. So to avoid further hurting the feelings of the man he said:
"Please give me your address and I will send you some literature to help you on the matter."
The man gave the boy his visiting card. On glancing at the card, the student bowed his in shame and became silent. The card said: "Louis Pasteur, Director of the Institute of Science Research, Paris."

May you walk in humility young man.

Nice story, but nonsense really. Wearing silly hats and lighting candles does not make it true.

"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still"

Normally I don't even respond to folks that talk like you. But you are obviously riding a very high horse that's bound for a fall. Mebbe you should question your blind faith in reason the same way you question those that honor the Divine. But mebbe this is over your head still. Remember this here free advice from a far away stranger: The asses you kicked on the way up are the same ones you'll have to kiss on the way down--no matter what your beliefs are.

To the believers who on this day celebrate the birth of Jesus, may God's peace warm your hearts and homes this Christmas and throughout the New Year.

Propagandising rubbish.

Religion is an insult to the intelligence.

I was brought up in it, but realised eventually that instead of being representatives of god, these priests are only misguided men that talk for a living.

States use religion because of political expediency. Even Obama keeps saying "God bless America" - that always sounds stupid to me.

The need for god was to explain our origins and to give us comfort about things that go bump in the night.

We know now about our origins (not as explained in the bible) and we have to learn to cope with things that go bump in the night like adults instead of like scared children.

Holding on to traditions is a poor excuse. Why orthodox should be different from roman or islam is entirely arbitary - most just choose their religion because of where they live. They can't all be right and orthodox is odder than many.

As for putting someone on a cross to take the sins of the world ..... why? It is a very arbitrary concept.

Human sacrifice is pagan - even when dressed up as christ doing something for all of us. Why would a god want that?!!!

Nice story, but nonsense really. Wearing silly hats and lighting candles does not make it true.
