Daniel - what you describe is a patriot.

I wouldn't say my definitions are precise enough to be formal, but these are reasonable working distinctions:

Patriots are a good thing. They take pride in honourable reputation.

Nationalists wear blinkers can't see how their prejudices are destructive of good reputation.

Nations are peoples - not geographically delineated areas. A nation can roam to find space or share space with other peoples.

Nationalists generally argue for a geographically bordered nation-state usually without due regard for the lives of others.

nationalists.
(Comm. Parrisson, 18 December 2014 12:24)

What is wrong with being a nationalist i.e loving your country and your own people?

"Ordinary Germans will tell you before anyone else. 50, 000 of them demonstrated just last weekend against this very issue. How ironic, undermine Serbia but now Germany is worried about Islamicization. Good."
(Ari Gold, 17 December 2014 12:23)

Ordinary Germans? They were as'ordinary' Germans as the 'ordinary' Serbs who protest against the pride parade in Belgrade, or hold a welcome march for Seselj - i.e. right wing supporters and nationalists.

I bet Ari Gold does not speak Serb.
I challenge him to write his next rambling in Serb language here.
He calls himself Ari Gold, yet Ari means gold in Albanian only...very strange.
Is Ari an albanian living in an english speaking country?

Willi I am not a "europhobe" I cannot be that because Serbia is an ancient European nation-state, one of the oldest. I am however a EUroskeptic as is the case all over Europe today. Ordinary people are turning against the elitist EU and that doesn't make them "fascist". These sorts of insults by the politically-correct, cultural Marxists is exactly what pushes people towards supporting movements that are anti+EU in the first place.

You keep talking about Putin as if I have a stake in his rule. But you can blame him for supporting anti EU parties, but truth is, that is just using somebody as a scapegoat for your problems. The EU has been unraveling much longer than the UKR conflict.

Interesting how you support territorial integrity when it comes to Nazi client states, but not the integrity of the only nation that fought to stop the spread of Nazism in the region.

Like the former Soviet communists used the western European left wing parties,
(Willi Pfaff,

You mean like Merkel in her youth years. Her communist mind-set — that if we respect Islam, they’re going to respect us, that if we indulge and appease and condone and so on, the problem will go away — is delusional. Merkel and EU have been trying to appease Islam with free for all immigration but they are heading for a terrible confrontation between fascist Islam and the new political parties gaining power in Europe who will step in when the Eurocrats fail to do so. This is the beginning of a challenge with no possible compromise.

As usual Europhobe and Germanphope Ari Gold is spreading lies, and leaves out the important things which he ignores in his one-dimensional bigot little universe.
Not 50,000 as he claims, but only 10,000 (this is 1/5) of his fascist friends demonstrated in former East German cities, mainly Dresden. What he doesn't mention is that there were tens of thousands of people protesting against this right wing crap, that the overwhelming majority of Germans are discusted by these people who most certainly don't represent what people here think. All parties and social groups condemn these demonstrations, except the Neo-Nazi's (NPD) and a new right wing party named AFD, which has strong connections to Putin, just like the rest of the right wing/fascist western European parties. Like the former Soviet communists used the western European left wing parties, Putin tries to use the right wing/ fascist parties in the EU to undermine the political structure. He won't succeed, and the way it looks Putin Russia is going down the drain anyway. Who knows, in a year or less he might be history. Let's hope so, but I already feel sorry for the poor Russian citizens who have to pay the price for his criminal mafia style politics.

Couldn't resist could you. A subject that has nothing to do with Serbia or its past and you have to try and use it to tell the world that Serbia is the great champions against radical Islamist. That is total BS,Europe turned on Serbia because of its elitist ideals against all non Serbs. The horrendous treatment against ordinary citizens in Kosovo had nothing to do with their association with Islam. It was a deluded nationalists dream to have a total Serbian state, free of Albanians no matter whether they were Muslim, Catholic, or Orthodox or Agnostic. Islam was not an issue in Kosovo until the scourge of SErbs opened the door for opportunists to come in and try to convert individuals. Of course it is easy when you have such a treacherous enemy that only wants you dead to teach you hate.
The thing is you nor any of your crony peers on here cannot try to boost Serbia on its own merits, your only hope is to try to make the Albanians look bad so you look better. Where does this Serbian Superiority Complex come from? I doubt you get any type of "special" treatment in your travels because you are Serbian unless you happen across another Serb, your American passport opens many doors for you, trade it in for a Serbian one and see how quickly those doors become a bit heavier.

The EU is stuck here. On the one hand, the elite would love nothing more than to offer Turkey full EU membership. But with so many problems in Europe right now, be it austerity in the south or mass immigration in northern Europe, the EU central planners can't afford this risk. Allowing 75 million Turks open door access would pretty much cement the Islamicization of Western Europe. Brussels can't afford to do that at a time when things are already so volatile although I'm sure they'd love to.
