Tadić, Serbia's former president who how heads the opposition SDS party, pointed out that in the wake of the scrapping of the South Stream project, "Serbia should seek a revision of this energy agreement in order to, through various agreements with Russia, be compensated for all that it lost."

Some people here have some issues with reading comprehension. He's saying Serbia should seek compensation with Russia, not the EU.

Compensation for what? The deal that he brokered specifically excluded any provisions for what happens if South Stream didn't happen

From the horse's mouth:

'"I am not accepting the simple easy idea that Bulgaria can be blackmailed as far as these energy relations are concerned," Juncker said.

"We'll take ... all the necessary steps to make sure that our relations with Russia will be improved, but it doesn't depend only on the willingness of the EU, of the European Commission. To dance a tango ... you need two dancers."'

Yes, it's a victory for Europe that South Stream is cancelled. From the words of the President of the European Commission himself. You've got to laugh. Here in Brussels when they say 'up' is 'down', 'left' is 'right' etc, they really believe it. The EU is in the shit of their own making. Yet again.

But remember my dear EU citizens (and take note you who are not), Brussels has your best interests at heart with a tax dodging former Prime Minister of Luxembourg heading the Commission supported by the majority of European Parliamentarians. Some say you get what you deservel

If Serbia needs to be "compensated" then by all means Serbia can sue mother Russia and don't forget to let us know how that works out for you...

Or could it be Albanians paid Putin (Serb thinking) to spite Serbs haha.

"...did not allow for any clause which would protect Serbia in case the gas pipeline is not built."

it can't be. after all, Russia and Serbia are joined at the hip. Serbia is Russia and Russia is Serbia

Neither did Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria.. are they all Russia too? I realize you still live in Serbia and it obviously consumes you very much. However the cancelling of this pipeline has literally nothing to do with Serbia.

The EU institutions are telling their member states to stand against their respective national interests and obstruct the the South Stream that each gov't agreed to at one point or another.

But because national govt's in Europe don't actually wield any power over their own affairs any more, they were told to forego energy security by their superiors in Brussels.
